Hofland and Van Bommel ￡24 million to Arsenal

Arsenal are ready to confirm the signing of PSV Eindhoven pair Marc Van
Bommel and Kevin Hofland with the Dutch club targeting Guus Hiddink to be
their new coach.

PSV Eindhoven president Harry van Raaij says Korea manager Hiddink is their
first choice to succeed Eric Gerets as coach after the World Cup finals.

Van Raaij told 'Algemeen Dagblad':

"Hiddink has a number of advantages. He has plenty of experience, knows the
club and the culture and is an important candidate. He is high on the list."

Sparta Rotterdam coach Frank Rijkaard, Martin Jol of RKC Waalwijk and
current PSV assistant Erwin Koeman.

But the new coach will have to work without centre back Kevin Hofland and
captain Van Bommel with both set to join Arsenal after two months of talks
near completion. Arsenal are set to agree a ￡24 million combined transfer
fee for the Dutch pair.
