Metal Gear Solid: Rising - What we want to see

Metal Gear Solid: Rising is a game that we already know a fair bit about: Handled by a new Konami team, Rising is set to spawn a new series that runs alongside the original Metal Gear Solid story.

Of course, it also takes the blonde-haired child soldier turned semi-cyborg badass Raiden as its super sharp sword swinging protagonist.

While producer Shigenobu Matsuyama has emphasised that there's still a strong stealth element at the heart of Rising, it looks like a much more action-packed, fast paced title than the aging Snake's last snooping adventure.

The actual mechanic of being able to slice any object at any angle and have it react according to real-world physics certainly looks very impressive but there's still a long way to go before we get a proper idea of how this one's going to turn out.

Here's what it would take to make us dip into our incredibly shallow pockets, let us know what you want to see in Rising in the comments below.

CHOP 'N' CHOOSE
We've heard about 'Cut At Will', we've seen 'Cut At Will' but will we actually get to Cut At Will?

If you've ever been to the cinema to see a comedy and realised that all the funny bits were in the trailer, you'll know what we mean. So far we've seen Raiden cut through limbs, guns, pillars, vans and melons - a good range of items but we need to be able to slice all items.

Within reason obviously: We don't expect to come up to a locked cast iron door and, rather than go hunting for a key code, just slice through that mother. The game would be over in an hour if a potential solution to every problem was 'slice it up good'.

But, if this is a physics-based mechanic, we do expect to be able to slice through wooden doors, for example. What we don't want is slice-specific areas where the game's coolest feature is only made truly available at certain points - much like Batman's grapple gun in Arkham Asylum.

We're impressed with what we've seen, and the whole 'Cut At Will' mantra looks like it will be properly infused throughout the game. We just pray we haven't seen everything that sword can do in the trailer.

SUPER AI
One thing that has bothered us throughout the Metal Gear series, and indeed any stealth-based series now that we think about it, is the haphazard intelligence of the enemy AI.

A platoon of khaki-clad henchmen might be very efficient at flanking and advancing in an all-out gun fight but they do tend to become a little bit numb when dealing with an unseen threat.

You know what we're talking about: When Paul sees his colleague Jerome slump to the ground and fall into a sudden slumber, the last thing he should be doing is wandering over to the same spot to see what happened. And, if Jerome does wake-up, he shouldn't just shrug off his impromptu slumber as "one of those things" and just get on with his day, he should be seriously worried and sniffing for answers.

We ended up with a pile of snoozing guards more times than we would've liked in the MGS series. While slightly dubious AI was a god-send at some of the harder stages, we'd like to see enemies with a good head on their shoulders in Rising before we slice it off.

KING KOJIMA
It became clear fairly early on in Rising's marketing that this was not to be a Hideo Kojima lead production and that it would instead be driven by a separate team at Kojima Productions - one set aside from the usual MGS team.

Of course, Kojima himself will still have a hand in how Rising turns out, even if he's only filling the role of great overseer. For us, Rising won't feel like an MGS title without a few Hideo Hallmarks.

It has to be more than an action game; it has to be backed up by a great story full of twists and turns that we are just about able to follow, it has to have epic, cinematics and fight scenes that look like they were choreographed by an unholy ballerina and ninja duo.

It's great that Kojima has given the Metal Gear name to what he calls "a new generation" at the studio. It's always good to see a new interpretation of an established franchise and, judging by the new gameplay direction, that's exactly what we'll get.

We still want it to feel like Metal Gear though and for that the Hideo Kojima brand needs to be present throughout.

BUT NOT TOO MUCH
As great as Hideo Kojima is, however, we think every gamer can agree his mind can be a bit much at all. We're talking about the four day long cut scenes that fry your sponge with twisty tales of tangled philosophy.

We're just not smart enough Kojima, we're sorry. Besides, Metal Gear Solid: Rising is looking like a lightning-fast affair for the most part and it would be a mistake to yank control from the player every 15 minutes to educate them about the history of war with some additional, fictional conspiracy.

So, we want the Kojima touch, that's a given, but just a hint of it. Too much just wouldn't work in this title and, if we're honest, we'd like to actually play more than 50 percent of an MGS game this time.

NGPLEASE
We were originally expecting Metal Gear Solid: Rising to be with us some time this year, until the always disappointing news of a delay came via carrier pigeon.

Now the title looks like it's set for a 2012 release and, while we always want to get our hands on great titles as soon as possible, a delay may have actually opened up some doors.

What if - and it's a big what if - a delay in the Rising release date and the reveal of the PSP2 (or NGP) on Thursday means that the Kojima team has the chance to look at some PSP2 features for the next Metal Gear?

In fact, what if we could play Metal Gear Solid: Rising on our PS3 and then carry it around with us and continue our campaign on the PSP2? It's possible, according to Kojima.

"What I'd like to realise is playing on your PS3, and when you go out, you put the game on your NGP, and when you come back home, you can once again use your PS3 and large screen TV," he said on Thursday.

"This dream is going to come true in the near future. And right now, I'm working on this project of the dream. I'm sorry, I can't reveal this now. But we'd like to present what we're doing at E3."

Now, there's every chance that this has nothing to do with Rising, it could have been delayed for any number of reasons (or not at all - it was never an official delay). Securing some extra prep time for some PSP2 features or compatibility is as good a reason as any.

Raiden VA "Completely in the Dark" on Metal Gear Solid: Rising




Raiden voice actor Quinton Flynn has "no idea" about the Progress of Metal Gear Solid: Rising , Which celebs Raiden. In Fact, he Has not Been contacted at all about the project.
"I am Completely in the Dark," Flynn Told TheGamingLiberty . "I have no answers. I have no idea. I Have not Been Approached in "any way, shape, or form. There has been "no communication. There's Been No information and I do not know what's going on. I've Tried to make efforts to find out what's happening and have-nots Been Able to get any answers at all. "
Further pressed, Flynn said: "As I say, I Have not Heard a Thing. I mean, I've Heard That They Are in production. So if they're in production and I'm not there Then There Is a good chance That Someone Else Is in my place. Unless, They Are recording everyone else and Everything Else But Me. "
According To Purpose Flynn, Leaving the star character Until The last minute is "insane." More so, it's "Probably Unlikely and impossible."
E3 Is Next month. If There's Any place to see a potential unveiling, it's at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Stay tuned.

但佢咁答我覺得又似唔係禾..

咁又唔係冇可能, 不過MG之父 小島還在 Konami, 轉手交個監督比人好似好怪咁..
神谷又有d 名氣, 接人地個二奶過門, 做得好都係得3分功, 做唔好就13分過

但係佢講開月風魔傳, 將MGSR engine 的切砍技術, 搬去做月風都 唔錯禾

真係學太郎話齋日廠真係愈黎愈唔掂,開發成本大多時間太長.....
歐美廠一公報九個月左右已經出到貨

我自已覺得上一集d場景好麻麻,睇片重多過玩,浪費左成個系統/引擎
其實都係日廠鍾意一早就公布隻GAME.....而外國廠就鍾意完成到咁上下先公布

就算舊作唔remake都remaster啦
