Takashi Iizuka Downplays NiGHTS Sequel

Teasing fans of the Saturn classic NiGHTS about the prospect of a sequel has become an institutional pastime at developer Sonic Team over the past few years, the latest example being Sonic Heroes director Takashi Iizuka's recent comments in an interview with Electronic Gaming Monthly. However, lest fans misinterpret his statements, Iizuka today issued a follow-up statement clarifying his comments on the subject.
"While I would love to create a sequel to Nights some time in the future," Iizuka said, "there are no plans for such a project at this time."

Those of an optimistic nature may of course switch their fantasies to another track and set to dreaming of a Burning Rangers sequel. In the meantime, we'll keep an eye out for genuine news of Sonic Team's efforts in the coming year.
