　　THQ 旗下策略遊戲《英雄連隊》新作《英雄連隊 2》預定 2013 年問世，將帶領玩家體驗第二次世界大戰東部戰線所發生的激烈戰事，遊戲中玩家將率領蘇俄紅軍面對德國入侵者。

　　《英雄連隊 2》採用 Relic Entertainment 的 Essence 3.0 Engine 研發，為遊戲帶來了策略元素的新技術，帶領玩家體驗進化動態戰役戰術系統，增加畫面真實度與新的環境破壞因素，希望讓玩家真正擁有如同指揮官能力的控制感。

　SEGA of Americaは，Relic Entertainmentの新作RTS「Company of Heroes 2」を，欧米で2013年6月25日に発売すると発表した。2013年1月25日に掲載した記事でもお伝えしたように，倒産したTHQからRelic Entertainmentおよび開発タイトルに関わる知的財産を取得したSEGA of America。当初の発売予定だった2013年3月から，3か月ほど遅れてのリリースが決定したことになる。

　第二次世界大戦の最中，ソビエト連邦に侵攻したドイツ軍とソビエト軍の激しい攻防を描く本作では，Relic Entertainmentが独自開発したゲームエンジン「Essence 3 Engine」が使用されており，カメラをぐっと近づけると，それぞれの兵士の表情まで読み取れるほどのグラフィックスが実現されている。また，「ColdTech」という新たなシステムにより，低い気温のために兵士の体力が奪われ，進撃速度が落ちたり，凍りついた川を渡っていた戦車が，気温の変化でゆるくなった氷にはまったりといったことが起きるという。
　さらに，樹木や建物，煙幕によって視界が遮られる「TrueSight」システムや，前作同様に家屋や建物の破壊システムなども搭載され，戦場のリアリティは飛躍的に高まっているようだ。

　日本での展開はアナウンスされていないものの，多くのストラテジーファンにとって気になる作品になるだろう。

Company of Heroes 2 Closed Beta Annnouned Sega of America and Sega Europe today announced that Company of Heroes 2, the eagerly anticipated strategy game from Relic Entertainment, Inc., will be running an exclusive, early access beta phase which will go live Tuesday 2 nd April. The closed beta playtest features the game’s critically acclaimed competitive multiplayer and skirmish gameplay, giving players access to six maps, 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 competitive gameplay, as well as the ability to play alone or with teammates against the AI. Players also get access to the first 40 levels of progression, and the ability to customize their loadouts to suit their play style using the all new Army Customizer. This first phase of the closed beta will be open to eligible pre-order customers only. There will be a second phase in the coming weeks where a wider audience will get a chance to take part. Players need the free Steam client to redeem closed beta access keys and play. Greg Wilson, Producer of Company of Heroes 2, commented, “We are excited to be able to launch the closed beta for Company of Heroes 2. We invite our fans to help us test and balance the game prior to launch, as well as see the changes we’ve already made since the Alpha test in December.” Quinn Duffy, Game Director, said “We’ve added two brand new maps to the roster for this phase as well as the four already in the Alpha Stress Test.
