Here’s the tweet:

“Learned yesterday that it’s possible to get through Alpha Protocol without killing anyone. That’s kind of awesome.”

Espionage without killing? Sounds like it might be hard to do.

Game’s out in October.

For North America, the release date has been nailed down as June 1. Europe will get it a few days earlier on May 28. Those in Australia will get it earlier still on May 27.

諜報RPG《阿爾法協議》發售日最終確定

世嘉公司宣佈,由《無冬之夜2》的開發商Obsidian開發的諜報RPG遊戲《阿爾法協議》將於2010年6月1日
在北美市場發售,歐洲地區的發售日為5月28日。

和很多其他的角色扮演遊戲採用科幻或魔幻的背景不同,《阿爾法協議》將會表現出現代的諜報氛圍。和《
諜影重重》的感覺比較類似,遊戲業講述了「一名年輕而有天賦的特工被政府追殺的故事。」這款遊戲也會
有多條分枝故事,並將最終影響遊戲主角的發展。遊戲會以第三人稱動作的形式進行,遊戲中會有實時的打
鬥和很多高科技的間諜道具可以使用。遊戲的製作公司還表示,《阿爾法協議》中不會有等級,玩家可以不
斷的學會多達十幾項的特殊技能。遊戲中的任務會散佈在世界各地,相當值得期待。

《阿爾法協議》原本預定於2009年10月6日發售,但由於為了進一步提高遊戲品質而延期。

十月出真係冇運行
個個禮拜都有新野,歐美仲未有bayonetta但都一堆大作

不過5月都好唔得幾多

Pros:

* The ideology behind an espionage RPG
* some cool moves. The melee and takedowns are cool.

Cons:

* The AI ( i actually had one stare right at me and walk forward a bit then turn away and walk away
* take a single step without crouching, and whoever is onscreen (be they in a guard tower or not) will know exactly where you are. This kills the stealth aspect along with the fact that you can't take out any lights.
* when a camera spots you, they just fire at where ever the camera spotted you. For me, I was behind a truck and they did very little to take me down other than fire at spot 'A'. No approach, no attempts to flush me out
* animation is very awkward
* no feeling of freedom. You pick a level, and it puts you right in the meat of it
* pointless "background" selection in the beginning. All it does is auto assign a few points to your skill set. Everyone has the same skill set, so potentially every character can be the same. I couldnt see anything unique.
* bodies disappear after a moment of not being onscreen, taking away the strategy of "do I drop him here?" because there is another guy patrolling who might see the body.
* you can't jump in any situation other than preset ones ie jumping from a tower onto a nearby roof, but unable to jump over a small barrier
* the multiple ways to clear a task or mission, doesn't feel like you're making a choice or figuring out how to do it. It just feels like you went up a ladder, instead of through the door.

Don't get me wrong, there may be something special hidden in this game, but I was getting Deus Ex impressions at the beginning, then they quickly disappeared.

I'll check back after you guys are playing the hell out of it, but at the moment this is a big negative purchase for me. Back it goes.

It's laughable...and not in a good way. 4 years of mediocrity (at best) in the making. Whatever magic some of the developers were a part of in the past shows that magic is no longer with them. In short, the game is horrid.

If anyone wants to squander $60 on this "game", be my guest....and while you're at it, burn everything you own just for the hell of it as well.

If this game is any indication of what goes on at Obsidian, I wouldn't hold any expectations for Fallout: New Vegas.

I wouldnt feel comfortable giving a review. I only watched the last hour of the game. Just head my advice, from one gamer to another, read the content of the reviews before you go out and buy this for 60 bucks.

What I saw:
I saw enemies taking a dozen or two or more bullets, sometimes to the head.

I saw an exploding helicopter, instead of spinning downward due to dravity, it spun, as if on a verticle axis, unmoving in the air, until it disappeared with a boom and was replaced by a fire animation. (That hanging in the air as well)

It saw a gun glitch numerous times, where instead of pointing forward it juts out to the side, perpendicular to your character almost, your bullets still firing normally.

I saw the end boss of the game, the final boss, firing helplessly against a wall that the main character was hiding behind, while the player shot him relentlessly in the head from cover, him not taking a scratch, and finishing the game that way. (While this was happening, the main characters gun was glitching off to the side)

I'm one of those that don't give a flying **** about graphics but in this game the sloppy animations and all the bugs, screen-tearing and fps-drops makes you wonder if the developers ever bothered to play the game themselves before releasing it... Its laughable especially when you die. Sometimes when Thorton gets damaged his mouth just stays open all the time until he dies -_-

As for the gameplay its either hate it or love it, some will like the "RPG feeling" to the combat while some won't. By that I mean that it doesn't play like your average third-person shooter. Enemies have a HP bar and won't always die from a headshot unless its critical. It does have a original and cool aiming system with perks and gadgets. Cover system is very flawed, sometimes the aim resets and leaves you open for attacks.

I used "field agent" as starting class, I have no idea what other classes offer that changes the gameplay. I think different classes only affect your starting points and your background info.

The only thing that prevents me from completely abandoning this game is the hilarious conversation system that is extremely satisfying with its different consequences. Also customization and the mini-games (hacking and unlocking) is fun.

I worked on this game (a fact of which I am not proud). I'm not here to defend it; I agree with all these reviews.

First, a comment for the guy at Cheesecake Factory - Most devs eat in the office most days, if they do go out they tend to grab something at the food court and head back. I know the execs take long lunches, but they often use them for informal meetings as well. Most of the programmers and designers very rarely ate outside the office during the time I was on this project.

There was a ton of work put into this game. The problem is that is was a ton of undirected work, or work on things that were just stupid. The Executive Producer for the game, Chris Parker (also an owner of the company), seemed to think he was the world's greatest designer ever, and created all these absolutely shitty systems and wouldn't listen to any of the real designers or devs about things that just didn't work. And you can't exactly argue with one of the owners of the company when he doesn't want to listen. He basically took over the game and dictated exactly how everything would work (or not work, as the case may be). The other producers realized this early on and just gave up, leaving Parker to micromanage all the designers and programmers directly.

Sega also was a factor, because they kept changing the design requirements (yes they had heavy influence there), which never gave the producers and designers time to actually decide on one set of features to make and polish. The blame is still mostly Obsidian's because the execution was absolutely terrible, and it was obvious 2 years ago that this game should have been scrapped. Instead, though, they focused on adding still more features and never fixed the ones they already had. That is a recipe for tons of bugs and no polish... as is obvious.

This game was just an absolute failure of production, and it's no wonder that so many of the developers left the company, even after the 40% staff layoffs. I am still happy about some of Obsidian's other current projects, New Vegas included, because they are going pretty well. Their big unannounced project is looking great and is already much better than AP ever was, and that may end up being the game that everyone was looking for with AP.

Sega should have canceled AP instead of Aliens...
