Dying Light Revealed for Next-Generation Platforms

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has today announced Dying Light, a first-person, action survival horror videogame with a portentous day-night cycle set in a vast open world. Currently under development by Techland, the videogame will be available in 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

During the day, players will traverse an expansive urban environment overrun by a vicious outbreak, scavenging the world for supplies and crafting weapons to defend against the growing infected population. At night, the hunter

becomes the hunted, as the infected become aggressive and more dangerous. Most frightening are the predators which only appear after sundown. Players must use everything in their power to survive until the morning’s first light.
“We are excited to partner with Techland on Dying Light, which is an original gaming experience for next-generation consoles,” said Kevin Kebodeaux, Senior Vice President, Sales and Operations, Americas, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “The partnership with Techland allows us to combine their successful development capabilities with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s one-of-a-kind publishing expertise to deliver on this title.”

exploration and weapon-crafting to further enhance the action survival experience.”

Polish-based developer Techland (Dead Island series) has jumped across the mighty pond of the Atlantic to open Digital Scapes Studio in Vancouver, Canada. Former Radical Entertainment Technical Director Marcin Chady will serve as the studio's managing director.

Digital Scapes will be treading familiar territory, as they'll be at least partially responsible for developing Techland's upcoming zombie-themed first-person melee game, Dying Light, which is set to be published by Warner Bros. Interactive sometime in 2014.

In short: the technical director from the studio that brought us Prototype 2 will be leading a team that promises Mirror's Edge-style free-run gameplay plus zombie slaughter. Yeah, we're cool with that.

Warner Bros. and developer Techland are looking to lock in pre-orders for Dying Light by offering an exclusive PVP mode called "Be the Zombie." In "Be the Zombie," players assume the role of a night hunter – a super fast zombie with a special tendril for navigating the environment – and battle each other for supremacy.

Dying Light, an open-world action game with parkour elements (and zombies) was announced prior to E3 earlier this year. Due on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and PC in 2014, Dying Light is the second zombie-based property from Dead Island: Riptide developer Techland.
