All Xbox Live members get free online play on Halo 3 this weekend, even Silver members.

This weekend, anyone gaming on Halo 3 will have access to online multiplayer, even Xbox Live Silver members, who are usually not allowed to access multiplayer features on games.

Microsoft has really been pushing it's gold memberships throughout March and April, and Silver members who buy Gold memberships or the Mythic Map Pack to go with their Halo 3 gaming will no doubt generate revenue for Microsoft.

Your free time with Halo 3 ends Monday at noon EST.

Daniel Petric sentenced to 23 years in prison

Daniel Petric, the teenager who shot and killed his mother and injured his father after being cut off from his precious Halo 3 back in 2007, received his sentence today, MSNBC reports. Judge James Burge sentenced the boy to 23 years to cries of mercy from the boy's surviving father, who stated that Daniel "still does not understand why he did something so terrible."

Daniel's sentence is actually a lot lighter than it could have been, as the prosecution was pushing for the maximum sentence of life without parole. The defense's argument was that Daniel was so young and so addicted to the game that he could not be held accountable. Petric, only 17 years old, was even younger when he committed the crime, and the judge's lenience is likely tied to his belief that young Daniel was addicted to the point of delusion.

Halo 3 will hit 10 million copies sold next week


For who don’t know this game, Halo 3 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie exclusively for the Xbox 360. When the game was released on September 25, 2007 it grossed US$300 million in its first week.


According to VGchartz.com, Halo 3 sold 28k copies Last week and the total sales for the game at this point is 9.98 million, so it is guaranteed that Halo 3 will hit 10 million copies sold next week.


Halo 3 is the best selling HD exclusive game this generation. I wonder how many copies Halo 3:ODST will sell in its first week when it will hit retail stores next month.
