A short letter to the Metro fans - past; present; and future...

Metro Redux. You may have heard of it... even though you probably shouldn't have!

We could issue a 'We do not comment on rumour and speculation' statement and pretend this never happened. They're pretty boring to read. They're also pretty boring to write.

So we're going to comment on rumour and speculation instead.

Is Metro Redux real?

Yes. We never made any secret of 4A's desire to bring Metro to the latest generation of console hardware.

But what you saw leaked was taken from an old, internal planning presentation, containing some nuggets of truth but a lot of hypothetical ideas and place holder material.

(Eagle eyed fans will recognize the artwork on the 'packshot' as the art from the original Russian edition of the Metro 2033 novel. And that 'logo' is just the old Metro 2033 logo with the '2033' scrubbed out and 'Redux' added... )

As you can see, we're not quite ready to reveal 4A Games' first next-gen console project, but we will be making an announcement this side of E3.

And we think the reality is a lot more exciting than the out-dated material that got leaked shows, and we're itching to share it with you. Just not yet.

4A Games and Deep Silver are bringing the iconic Metro series to the next generation. Metro Redux features fully re-mastered and improved versions of both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, creating the most compelling Metro experience ever.

With re-worked next-gen visuals, smooth 60FPS gameplay on console, as well as new and improved content and features, Metro Redux is much more than a simple HD upgrade.

For the Redux edition, Metro 2033 has been completely overhauled:

• The original game has been rebuilt in the latest and greatest iteration of the 4A Engine, bringing all the graphical and gameplay improvements from Last Light to Metro 2033 Redux

• Enjoy completely re-mastered visuals: advanced lighting, dynamic weather, more detailed characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction and improved smoke, fire and particle effects

• Experience radically improved gameplay: advanced enemy AI, improved combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling and more responsive, intuitive controls plus signature features from Last Light such as the atmospheric ‘mask wipe’ mechanic, weapon customisation, and silent kills and take-downs

Metro: Last Light has also received a graphical face-lift and gameplay improvements that carry across both titles, including new melee animations, and the fan requested ‘Check Watch’ and ‘Check Inventory’ features. It also includes all previously released Season Pass add-on content – a further 10 hours of single-player gameplay.

With Metro Redux, players now have the choice to experience both Metro games the way they want with the introduction of two unique ‘Play Styles.’

Those who favoured the more survival horror oriented gameplay of Metro 2033 can play both campaigns in the ‘Survival’ Play Style, a fraught slow-burn fight for survival with limited resources, deadlier enemy AI, and slower reload speeds. Those who enjoyed the more action oriented gameplay of Metro: Last Light can try the ‘Spartan’ Play Style, providing Artyom with a powerful set of combat skills and more plentiful resources.

In addition, the legendary Ranger Mode returns to both games, providing the most immersive and challenging experience as the HUD is stripped away and hardcore rules apply.

Upon release, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will each be available separately as a digital download for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and PC a suggested $24.99 / €19.99 / £15.99.

Alongside the digital release, a boxed compilation containing both games, titled Metro Redux will be available at retail for a suggested $49.99 / €39.99 / £34.99.

Metro 2033 Redux, Metro: Last Light Redux and the compilation Metro Redux are scheduled for release this Summer for Xbox One, PlayStation, and Windows PC.

Dedicated Linux and SteamOS versions will also release later this year.

Metro Redux is based on the internationally best-selling novel METRO 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky.

As promised, Deep Silver has just announced Metro Redux, a special collection of fully re-mastered and improved version of both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. This special package will arrive in Summer 2014 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Sony via their official Playstation Blog has just revealed the official screenshots of Metro Redux running on Playstation 4 and confirmed 1080p/60 FPS.

"Metro Redux runs at 1080p, 60FPS on PlayStation 4. We had to sneak the PS4 development kits into Kiev to make it happen, but we wholeheartedly think it was worth it." said Sony.

And added: "Metro Redux includes Metro 2033 (for the first time ever on a PlayStation platform) and Metro: Last Light, remastered for PlayStation 4, with all the gameplay, AI, gunplay, and graphical improvements we added in Last Light now applied to both games."

We have just received a word from Deep Silver Spokepersons that Xbox One version of Metro Redux will run at 900p/60 FPS.
Update 2:

Now this is official that Xbox One version will run at 900p/60 as Deep Silver brand manager Huw Beynon have confirmed as per Polygon.

Beynon said the console versions are expected to run at 60 frames per
second. The PS4 version will run at 1080p resolution, with the Xbox One
running at 900p.

我未玩過呢個系列, 係咪好似fallout的RPG? 即係著重劇情同探索?

呢隻係恐怖FPS,唔係RPG,玩法有潛入有狂殺,劇情由小說改編,所以肯定得,呢隻Game好多嘢都係用Physic計算,所以响PC run benchmark次次畫面計啲嘢都唔同,就算部PC好勁Config都好難run得順(其中一個原因係之前寫Game寫得衰)

Metro Redux Release Date Confirmed! Deep Silver today confirms that Metro Redux will hit stores on the 26th August in the US, and the 29th August in Europe. The boxed copy of Metro Redux contains remastered versions of both Metro 2033 andMetro: Last Light, with all previously released add-on content. Deep Silver today announced that Metro Redux, the upcoming bundle that includes remastered versions of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on August 26. The game comes to Europe three days later on August 29.
The $50 Metro Redux also contains all previously released DLC for both games, as well the uber-difficult Ranger Mode. The remastered versions of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light will also be sold separately across console and PC as downloads for $25 each. If you already own Metro 2033 or Metro: Last Light on Steam, you can get the remastered versions for 50 percent off.
The new versions of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light include "never-seen-before" content and new gameplay features, as well as "outstanding graphical fidelity." The resolution is unknown, but both games will run at 60fps.
When the bundle was originally announced last month, Deep Silver explained that gameplay has been improved "radically," and now includes "advanced enemy AI, improved combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling, and more responsive, intuitive controls." Visuals have also been boosted, now featuring "advanced lighting, dynamic weather, more detailed characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction, and improved smoke, fire, and particle effects."
Dedicated Linux and SteamOS versions of Metro Redux are also in the works and are scheduled to launch sometime in 2014. We got to see Metro Redux at E3, and you can watch our interview with Deep Silver about the game in the video above.
