It's called Mario Strikers Charged, apparently, and Philip Lahm is VERY excited about it.

They've chosen Thunder Island as the stadium. "Rated: Lethal!" Woo! Here's hoping for messy fatalities. It looks very similar to Super Mario Strikers, graphically. Shot from the side and above, and very similar shooting mechanism.

August 23, 2006 - August 23: At the "Wii Prove Our Promise" keynote, Nintendo revealed a new title for Wii. Mario Strikers Charged is, in spirit, a sequel to the smash hit Super Mario Strikers for GameCube, developed by Next Level Games. In the demo shown on stage, players selected one of four captains for the game, choosing from Mario, Bowser, Peach, and Donkey Kong. The gameplay was very similar to the Cube version, with motion sensing for goalie moves and precision shots.

In addition, players can expect the same over-the-top super attacks as Super Mario Strikers. As a quick demo, players were shown using Mario to do a gigantic fireball attack, reminiscent of the previous version of the game. This could lend to the idea of more GameCube games getting Wii updates, and when it comes to innovative gameplay, we'll take what we can get.

In a fact sheet supplied by Nintendo of Europe, the company states that Strikers Charged will feature a plethora of new gameplay elements as well, including the ability to select one of 12 different team captains, and plug in popular characters into the other slots. Each team can also use three of a total eight "sidekicks" that are less skilled, but still more powerful than the basic teammates from the GameCube version.

The amount of powerful offense has also been increased, as players can now pull off a "Mega Strike", splitting the ball into up to five balls, each seeking the opposing goal. On defense, players will have to then target the balls with the Wiimote, blasting away potential tide-turners before they cascade into the net. For an even more devastating edge, the ball can be charged, adding a homing ability to the projectile (much like soccer's own version of a heat-seeking missile).

As yet another added bonus, Mario Strikers Charged can be played both locally and on the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, allowing players to compete in matches or even set up tournaments with other Strikers players across the globe. Strikers offers anywhere from one to four players.

We'll have more on Mario Strikers Charged as news breaks, as well as continued coverage of GC 2006. Nintendo has announced that Strikers will be playable on the floor tomorrow, so we'll have a hands-on play through on the way. In the meantime, we'll have the trailer up shortly so stay tuned.

* Gameplay: Use the skill the Wii Remote and Nunchuk Controller provide to win the ball, score unstoppable goals and take control of the goal keeper to perform spectacular saves

* Characters: Mario is joined by other famous Nintendo characters who take on the role of captain. Players then select a host of popular teammates to make up the rest of the team.

* How to progress through the game: Players form an original team by combining one of 12 captains with three of eight sidekicks before competing in one of the games many modes. Anything goes in Mario Strikers Charged as players are allowed to utilize a variety of special abilities to clinch important goals.

* Super abilities/power ups/moves/features: Each captain has their own set of skills, super abilities as well as the ability to perform special shots called Mega Strikes, where the iron ball splits up to five balls and flies at the goal. The defending player must use the Wii Remote to target and aim at and shoot these balls out of the air before they concede a goal. In this game players can also charge energy to the metal ball, making it more likely to find its target when fired at goal.

* Stadiums: Each of the stadiums in Mario Strikers Charged have various characteristics and contraptions, which influence game play. Players must learn to use this to their advantage to truly dominate the pitch.

* Multiplayer: Mario Strikers Charged will not only feature an action packed multiplayer mode but will also support the Nintendo WiFi connection service, allowing players to take part in tournaments with people from all around the world.

德國當地時間8月23日，任天堂在德國遊戲展（簡稱GC 2006）發表了題為「Wii將兌現我們的承諾」的演講，並正式公佈了一款Wii的新作《馬裡奧足球激情四射（Mario Strikers Charged）》。本作是NGC平台上《馬裡奧足球》系列的續作，開發工作依然由曾經負責遊戲NGC版開發的Next Level Games公司擔當。

根據任天堂在會上展示的試玩影像來看，遊戲基本繼承了系列一直以來的風格。在試玩影像中，玩家可以在4個隊長中選擇其一進行遊戲，其中包括馬裡奧、庫巴、碧奇公主和大金剛。遊戲的操作與NGC版比較相似，只是由原先的手柄改為了現在的動作感應控制器。可以使用Wii的手柄來完成射門以及撲救等多種動作。

　　任天堂於 8 月 23 日德國萊比錫 GC 展的主題演講中，發表了 Wii 主機平台新作《瑪俐歐足球前鋒 Charged（Mario Strikers Charged）》，並公布了數張遊戲畫面、遊玩示意圖以及插畫，供玩家參考。

　　《瑪俐歐足球前鋒 Charged》是任天堂先前於 NGC 所推出之《超級瑪俐歐足球前鋒》的續篇作品，承襲瑪俐歐系列運動遊戲一貫的風格，提供融合逗趣可愛與緊張刺激等雙重要素的足球遊戲體驗。

　　遊戲承襲 NGC 前作的內容與系統，並針對 Wii 主機的特性加入眾多改良與新要素。遊戲中玩家將可操作瑪俐歐、路易奇、碧姬、大金剛、耀西、庫巴...等瑪俐歐世界的眾多角色，在充滿童話幻想風格的眾多足球場，施展各自的強力射門絕招，並以 Wii 遙控器的指標感應功能來進行守門操作。

　　除了承襲前作的部分之外，遊戲中並加入了眾多新要素，包括 12 名不同的隊長，以及來自其他知名遊戲的角色。每隊並可從 8 名忠實夥伴中選擇 3 名參賽，雖然這些夥伴的技巧稍遜，但是仍較 NGC 版的一般隊友來得強力。之外並將支援任天堂 Wi-Fi 連線服務，讓全球玩家可透過網路進行對戰。　《瑪俐歐足球前鋒 Charged》發售日未定，尚待後續公布。
