EA Kicks off FIFA 08
It's coming this Autumn on every format possible, including debuts on Wii and PS3.

UK, May 24, 2007 - EA has announced - rather predictably some might say - that FIFA is returning to consoles this Autumn, with footballing superstar Ronaldinho gracing the cover of FIFA 08.

Joining Ronaldinho on the cover are stars from individual territories too, with Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos adorning the Spanish box and Germany getting Miroslav Klose of Werder Bremen. UK and US cover stars have yet to be announced.

In addition, Ronaldinho and his fellow faces of FIFA will be providing motion capture for the game, to ensure "body movements, individual moves and the playing style of each athlete is captured and digitised to become the life-like movement of the virtual players in future versions of EA's FIFA games".

Joe Booth, senior producer for FIFA 08, said: "We are proud to call some of the world's best football athletes our partners. The access, guidance and insight they give us means that FIFA 08 will create a next-gen experience that not only looks authentic, but that captures the emotion, finesse and beauty of the game."

As for the formats FIFA 08 is coming to, the full list is [take a deep breath] Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PSP, Nintendo DS, PC, mobile phones and it's appearing on Wii and PlayStation 3 for the first time ever.

不久前，《Nintendo Power》雜誌首次公佈了Wii版《FIFA 08》的比賽遊戲畫面以及玩家使用Mii系統進行小遊戲的畫面。同時，還用圖示的方法揭示了如何用Wii的獨特遙控手柄踢足球。以下是具體的操作方法：

·如果玩家需要進行地面傳球，只需要迅速向下揮動手柄，而要傳出高空球，只需要迅速向上揮動手柄。

·在擲邊線球時，你需要雙手舉起手柄，就像在真實的球場上一樣，向下揮動。同樣的滑鏟也是利用這一動作來完成。

·在賽場上如果你需要向某個方向傳球，只需要向相應的方向揮動即可。

·在發角球時，你可以旋轉手柄上的模擬搖桿來，給射出的球加上旋轉效果。

·遊戲中，玩家需要滿足特別的條件，來使用類似羅納爾迪尼奧這樣的特殊角色。

整個遊戲的的操作對於玩家來說很容易上手，遊戲會有一系列的訓練教程讓玩家掌握所有動作。Wii版《FIFA 08》將於今年的9月正式發售，相信以後還會不斷有新的消息公佈。

前不久《財富》雜誌編輯Jeffrey O'Brien透露了Wii版的《FIFA 08》將融合Mii自建形象系統進行遊戲的消息，然而發行商EA卻一直對這則消息比較謹慎，沒有給與官方的確認。今天，EA終於正式宣佈，Mii系統的確將會成為Wii版《FIFA 08》的特色之一。

據悉，與遊戲的封面球員一致，EA將會在遊戲裡加入用Mii描繪的巴西球星羅納爾迪尼奧作為Wii版形象代言人。同時在遊戲中傳球、射門和過人的技巧還會活用動作感應系統。為了幫助玩家適應新的體感操作，Wii版《FIFA 08》將會有30個教程關來教玩家如何操作。

本次的遊戲中，封面球星不再是擺設，而會有專門的Wii獨佔多人遊戲模式——「羅納爾迪尼奧的足球派對」出現，玩家在這個模式裡可以用自創的Mii形象和羅納爾迪尼奧一起玩一系列的小遊戲。小羅自己評價自己在遊戲裡的Mii形象說：「我的形象看起來就像在享受足球，而且在遊戲裡和玩家分享我的激情，對我也很有意義。」

June 29, 2007 - Hands-on FIFA 08 Wii We score some goals in EA's Wii-customized game of soccer. Gameplay details, screens and videos. This fall, publisher EA is set to bring out FIFA 08 for Nintendo's next-generation console. Not some sloppy port with a list of omissions from the other builds, but a full-blown game of soccer that actually plays on Wii's strengths -- specifically, the motion-sensory functionality of its unique controller, the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and yes, even its personalized Mii avatars. If you're a soccer fan, you're in luck because the newest entry into EA's acclaimed series is on track to be the best yet and Nintendo fans are absolutely not being made to settle for second best. We recently had the chance to play both FIFA 08's main mode and some of its Wii-exclusive mini-games and we walked away excited about the product to come.

FIFA 08 is headlined by soccer superstar Ronaldinho and this fact is represented well within the Wii product. EA has actually created a Mii-like avatar for Ronaldinho that is used throughout some of the minis in the soccer effort. There are three minis encapsulated within a mode called Footii Party, which is more or less hosted by Ronaldinho. You can partake in graphically stylized games of Juggling, Table Soccer and Boot it using your own Mii characters. We tried out Table Soccer and it worked well, enabling us to twist our Wii remote to and from to kick the ball into our player's goal, or to block a kicked shot. You unlock new tables as you advance. We didn't get to play Juggling, but you apparently use the Wii remote to juggle the ball in the air; your opponent, meanwhile, can use trick balls and spins to trip you up. And finally, in Boot It, you become the goalie or the shooter and can play against as many as three friends as you all use the Wii remote to kick to and defend the goal.

However, if you find yourself uninterested in the selection of minis, fear not, for FIFA 08 still includes all a full-blown standard single-player affair complemented by all the licensed leagues, teams and players you'd expect. There are, in fact, more than 570 licensed teams, and 14,000 players, in addition to the interactive leagues introduced in last year's title, such as F.A. Premier League, Bundesliga, French League and Mexican 1st Division.
For many, the main selling point with the Wii version are, of course, the new gesture-based controls. To learn the basics, you can enroll in the Soccer Academy, designed specifically to teach you how to use the Wii remote to become a legend on the soccer field. There are more than 30 interactive tutorials that explicitly outline how to master the remote and nunchuk to gain the edge on your opponents.

No control options have been sacrificed in the transition to motion-based inputs. You can still run, pass, shoot, pull off stepovers and drag-backs, for example, but with Wii you handle these maneuvers in very different ways. You still move around the field with the nunchuk's analog stick, which controls your player adequately, although some sense of sluggishness remains, as has always been the case with the FIFA games. You can sprint by holding the Z button. To short pass, hit the A button and to through pass, tap B-trigger. To throw the ball in, hold down the Z button and then make an forward throwing gesture with both controllers. You can send a shot toward the goalie with a quick flick of the Wii remote upward, a finesse shot by motioning in the opposite direction, and you can also header/volley by motioning downward. If you're playing defense, you tap the A button to switch between players and hold B-trigger to tackle; if you motion downward while holding B-trigger, you'll perform a sliding tackle. In our experience, the controls respond well, and these are just the basics.

You can stop the ball, set your pace control, forward run, dummy, or drop ball using a combination of button taps, there are directional short passes assigned to the D-Pad, lobbed through passes with C+B, one-two pass if you hold C button and tap A twice, or ground cross by holding A button and tapping B twice. You can chip shot by holding C button and gesturing upward with the Wii remote or add ballspin during free kicks by doing the same. And there are a wealth of straight-up trick controls. For instance, if you hold C button and gesture left, you'll step over-left, kick right. If you gesture to the right, you'll do just the opposite. You can fake left or fake right, too.
There's a lot to learn, so if all of this is sounding just too complicated for your tastes, don't worry because EA has you covered, too. If your idea of sports videogames falls more in line with Wii Sports than Madden, you might consider controlling FIFA 08 for Wii in Family Play mode, which essentially takes the running functionality away from you -- it's handled by AI -- and you merely use gestures to pass and shoot the ball. You pass simply by choosing a direction on the D-Pad and then motioning upward with the Wii remote and you shoot merely by jerking up in the same fashion. If you want to slide tack, motion downward. There's a little more to it, of course, but the idea is to keep it simple so that anybody can play it. The good news is that if you want to square off against your dad, he can choose Family Mode controls and you can still have at him with advanced controls.

We didn't get to try it out for ourselves, but FIFA 08 for Wii will make use of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for two-player head-to-head battles. Offline, this is a four-player compatible endeavor.

The game is developed by EA Canada and will ship for Wii this fall. We'll have much more on the ambitious effort soon, but until then satisfy your hunger for soccer by devouring new direct-feed footage of the Wii title in motion. July 3, 2007 - It's no secret that Nintendo's Wii console has, more than any system before it, helped bridge the gap between hardcore players and non-gamers alike. While the Big N's innovative remote has proved to be a big component to building that bridge, so has quality software that makes smart use of the device. Like, for example, Wii Sports, a title that de-emphasizes complex controls and enables intuitive, lifelike gameplay simply by reenacting motions we already know. It was just a matter of time until more companies adopted Nintendo's approach, and that time has arrived, as EA announces "Family Play."

So what is Family Play? Quite simply, it's an optional mode incorporated into EA sports titles that takes the nunchuk controller out of play, making it easy for non-gamers to get into the action utilizing intuitive motions and AI-controlled characters. Think of it as "highlight reel mode" for gamers. Instead of worrying about maneuvering players or taking on more complex gamer actions, it's all about using the Wii-mote for gesture-only control. With the computer taking over all character movement and play orchestration, it's simply up to you to make the big plays happen. Family Play can be incorporated at any time during play by taking the nunchuk controller out, and is seamlessly integrated into Madden, FIFA, and NBA Live. Want to play against your younger brother in Madden? Just switch him over to Family Play and keep your advanced controls in tact. Once he gets a feel for the gesture control, plug in the nunchuk and let him have total control over the game. It's seamless, easy, and intuitive.

"EA Sports Family Play on the Wii creates an incredibly accessible and user-friendly experience that the whole family will enjoy," said Dave McCarthy, executive producer for the three games developed at EA Canada. "While many fans love to control every piece of the action, novice players can have just as much fun jumping in to throw a touchdown pass, nail a three pointer or take a shot on goal. FIFA Soccer 08:
With FIFA Soccer 08, leave the running and ball-handling to the computer and line up a perfect shot with Wii motion. Take over throw-ins, passes, punts and corner kicks without the need for buttons, and plug backing the nunchuk once you think you have what it takes to step up to Ronaldinho. If you're a hardcore FIFA fan, crank up the AI difficulty and pass an extra Wii-mote to a friend or family member. It's not so easy when your human opponents know all the right moves.

EA官方FTP下載站點剛剛更新，放上了最新的《FIFA 08》PC版DEMO。

目前還不清楚Demo的具體內容，喜歡《FIFA》的玩家不妨親自下載這個479MB的Demo來體驗一番。按照慣例，該Demo仍會提供有限的幾隻俱樂部球隊和一個球場。

從附帶的ReadMe.txt說明文件中還可以看到，《FIFA 08》需要1.3GHz主頻處理器，推薦512MB內存，顯卡自然要支持DX9.0c，顯存至少也要有64MB，同時硬盤空間大概1GB(僅限Demo)，操作系統則支持Windows 2000 SP4、Windows XP SP2、Windows Vista，但注意不支持16-bit色深。
