Vertonghen, 33, left Spurs as a free agent at the end of the season after eight years with the Premier League club.

Amos makes permanent move to QPR

We have reached agreement with Queens Park Rangers for the permanent transfer of Luke Amos.

The central midfielder spent last season on loan at the Championship side, making 35 appearances and scoring twice.

Now 23, Luke progressed through the age groups in our Academy, working his way up to senior level, where he made his Premier League debut on the opening day of the 2018/19 season away at Newcastle United.

Shashoua completes Baleares transfer

We have reached agreement with Atlético Baleares for the permanent transfer of Armando Shashoua.

The 19-year-old midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at the Spanish Segunda División B outfit, making four appearances.

A product of our Academy system, he played 14 times for our Development Squad during the first half of the 2019/20 campaign before linking up with his elder brother Samuel, another of our former Academy graduates, during his loan spell at Baleares.

Former Burnley and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer.

Hart, 33, has signed a two-year deal with Spurs after leaving the Clarets when his contract expired on 30 June.

Hart fell out of favour at Manchester City - while still England's first choice - after Pep Guardiola arrived in 2016, with loan spells at Torino and West Ham before a 2018 move to Burnley.

Having won the last of his 75 England caps in November 2017, he lost his Burnley place to Tom Heaton midway through the first season of a two-year deal and then spent 2019-20 on the bench behind Nick Pope.

Tottenham announced Hart's signing on Tuesday and he will compete with Paulo Gazzaniga to be Hugo Lloris' deputy at the north London club.

"I'm here to help the team any way I can. Be it on the field, off the field, I'm here to try and push the club forward," Hart added.

"No getting away from it, it has been a couple of difficult years for me on the football field - but I feel I've got so much more to give."

Tottenham Hotspur have signed defender Matt Doherty from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.

The Republic of Ireland right-back, 28, has signed a four-year deal with Spurs.

Doherty made over 300 appearances for Wolves after joining from League of Ireland side Bohemians in 2010.

He becomes Spurs' third signing of the summer following the arrivals of midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and goalkeeper Joe Hart.

We have been drawn away to Bulgarian side PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv 1926 in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.

Prior to the draw, the 72 teams on the Main Path into this round were divided into 12 groups of six teams, each with three seeded teams and three unseeded teams. Seeded sides were drawn against unseeded clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to re-sign Wales forward Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, and are closing in on a deal for his team-mate Sergio Reguilon.

Bale, 31, left Spurs to join Real for a then world record £85m in 2013 and has since scored more than 100 goals and won four Champions League titles.

"Gareth still loves Spurs," his agent Jonathan Barnett told BBC Sport Wales. "It's where he wants to be."

Both Bale and left-back Reguilon had been linked with Manchester United.

Tottenham have signed Spain defender Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid on a five-year contract.

The 23-year-old came through the youth set-up at Real and made his first-team debut in October 2018.

He was on loan at Sevilla last season and helped them win the Europa League as well as finish fourth in La Liga.

Shortly after the news of the Reguilon deal, Tottenham announced Gareth Bale had completed his return to the club on a season-long loan from Real.

Real Madrid will have a buyback option in the range of €35-40 million. The clause will be active for two seasons.

Tottenham have re-signed Wales forward Gareth Bale from Spanish champions Real Madrid on a season-long loan.

Bale, 31, left Spurs for a then world record £85m in 2013 and went on to score more than 100 goals and win four Champions Leagues with Real.

"It's nice to be back. It's such a special club to me. It's where I made my name," said Bale.

"Hopefully, now I can get some match fitness, get under way and really help the team and, hopefully, win trophies."

He added: "I always thought when I did leave that I would love to come back.

"I feel like it is a good fit. It's a good time for me. I'm hungry and motivated. I want to do well for the team and can't wait to get started.

"Hopefully, I can bring a bit more belief to everybody that we can win a trophy and the target is to do that this season - to be fighting on every front possible."

Bale originally joined Tottenham as a 17-year-old from Southampton in 2007 for an initial payment of £5m.

At Real, he has also won two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, three Uefa Super Cups and three Club World Cups with Real.

He remains the most expensive British player in history, as well as the top-scoring British player in La Liga - with 80 goals and 40 assists in 171 league appearances, averaging a goal or assist every 104 minutes.

However, a run of injuries, indifferent form and a deteriorating relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane had seen Bale become a marginal figure.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has been looking for a back-up striker to England international Harry Kane.

He believes he may have found the answer in the 25-year-old Brazilian, who scored 24 goals last season for the Portuguese side.

The former Napoli forward has a large release clause in his contract but negotiations are continuing.

Should the move go through, the loan is likely to contain an option for Tottenham to turn the transfer into a permanent deal for 45m euros (£40.83m).
