Speaking to VG247 at Develop, Realtime Worlds has offered a God-sent glimmer of hope that we may yet see a sequel to free-roaming future cop blockbuster Crackdown, one of the most-loved Xbox 360 games. That’s the spirit.

“It was a horrible, horrible decision that we still dwell on,” said studio boss Colin Macdonald of the choice not to move ahead straight onto a second game.

“But I don’t think the door’s closed. Obviously, right now we’re tied up with APB and everything else, but hopefully in the future we’ll have the resource and something can be worked out with Microsoft.”

Good gravy. There are a great many people in the world that would dearly love to see that happen, we said.

“Including 200 people in Dundee,” Macdonald added. “We would have loved to have seen it. We poured five years of our lives into that game. You know, we’ve got guys on the development team that have Crackdown tattoos, permanent tattoos on their arms. We’re extremely passionate about it.

“But at the end of the day we’re a company that has to do what’s best for the company. We’ve got to stay in business. And the numbers just didn’t add up. We’re not in the business of doing things because we’d like to, if we can’t guarantee that it makes sense for the company. That doesn’t work.”

Microsoft: please, please, sort this out. Please. We didn’t get level four hand grenades for nothing, you know.

Final Fantasy VII Advertising Error
Yet another rumor over the greatly desired remake.

August 11, 2008 - Last week, rumors began to spread online once again in reaction to a series of photos and videos depicting what appeared to be an advertisement for Final Fantasy VII for the PS3. The item had a release date of the 16th of this month and was displayed at the bottom of an in-store advertisement. While many believed that these photos were taken at a Best Buy store, there's no way to be certain that Best Buy was the outlet in question (as no store logo can be seen). These advertisements are clearly erroneous because there's no reason behind a remake being released so suddenly when its existence has never been officially confirmed. Regardless, we contacted a representative at Square Enix to clarify this matter and while they didn't have an official comment to make, they had no idea why such an odd advertisement would pop up in the first place.

We also contacted multiple Best Buy stores across the country. All representatives from the stores were unfamiliar with the ads and had no explanation for the various photographs and videos. So gamers hoping that this was some sort of "sign" are out of luck -- there is no current plans for a remake, certainly none that would come out this Saturday.

Movie producer Patrick Aiello has confirmed that the console release date of Street Fighter IV will coincide with 'The Legend of Chun-Li' - a brand-new Street Fighter film from Hyde Park Entertainment.

"Capcom is releasing Street Fighter IV in 2009, which is the 20th anniversary of the game," Aiello stated. "The film and game release dates will coincide."

Scheduled for March 2009, the movie takes a darker look at the Street Fighter universe, with Aiello encouraging comparisons to Batman Begins.

"The action is an organic result of the conflict that our characters find themselves in," he continued. "We took great care to construct our characters' starting point, so when we watched them grow in separate directions, good and evil, the fighting scenes would be out of natural conflict and make sense. It's very much like Batman Begins in that sense."

Street Fighter IV retains the series' light-hearted approach, however.

"I'm not certain how much of the game will coincide with the story because ours is a very partitioned off origin story of the Street Fighter universe," Aiello stated. "So the release dates will coincide, elements between the two will coincide, but in terms of them relating to each other perfectly, I don't believe that's the case."

And that's no bad thing with positive reviews pouring in for the arcade version. Roll on March 2009.

但上面呢句就有點問題...
SF1係1987年
SF2係1991年
點計2009都唔係"20th anniversary of the game"

2009 o既20年前, 當年冇錯係有一隻SF, 不過係叫Final Fight (前名Street Fighter '89)
