“Zeno Clash”シリーズや異色のタワーディフェンス“Rock of Ages”といった個性的な作品で知られるチリのデベロッパACE Teamが開発を手掛ける新作アクション「Abyss Odyssey」の7月15日ローンチが目前に迫るなか、新たに格闘ゲームをインスパイアした激しい戦闘システムやCo-opプレイ、レベリングに伴う RPG的な育成要素、広大な地下ダンジョン“Abyss”の探索要素、魂を捕らえたクリーチャーへの変身システムなど、本作の多彩な要素を8分弱に渡って紹介するゲームプレイ映像が公開されました。

The Nightmare Begins... Abyss Odyssey Available Beginning Today

Starting today on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, the warlock's nightmare takes shape in the form of Abyss Odyssey. The 2-D adventure game from indie developer ACE Team (Rock of Ages, Zeno Clash) and published by ATLUS features rogue-like elements steeped in fighting game mechanics. Beginning today, players can purchase the game on Steam and PSN. Starting July 16, Xbox Live and European PSN users will follow suit. The game normally retails for $14.99; more details are at abyssodyssey.com

To celebrate the launch of Abyss Odyssey are two new promotions for the console launch:

• 30% discount for PlayStation 3 users (any PSN member in North America, discount only for PS+ subscribers in EU) for one week after launch.
• 33% discount for Xbox 360 users for one week after launch.

Abyss Odyssey has an aesthetic that blends Art Nouveau and Chilean folklore in a procedurally generated environment. As players descend the Abyss, different regions will be home to different monsters, all of which have their own movesets. Capturing the soul of defeated enemies lets players take their form and battle as them. Death is no obstacle as well, as experience carries over between playthroughs. Levelling up allows more powerful monsters to be captured, more loot to be acquired, and more treasure to find.

At the bottom of the abyss lies the warlock behind the enemies, and will be the boss that you face. But here's the twist: defeating the boss only brings closer the changing of his form. As the community continues to beat the warlock, his mask will start to chip away. Once the community reaches a milestone, the mask will be destroyed completely, and the warlock will get bestowed with a brand new set of skills/challenges to overcome.
