In Gran Turismo Sport, there will be two online championships officially sanctioned by the FIA
running simultaneously. In the Nations Cup, players will be able represent their home country.
Whilst in the Manufacturers Cup, players will be driving on behalf of their favorite car manufacturer.

Players will not only be able to race as drivers themselves, they’ll also be able to root for
their home country or their favorite manufacturers teams.

『Gran Turismo SPORT』

Sony Executive Jim Ryan Confident in GT Sport Release Date

October 28th, 2015 by Michael L.

As you know by now, Gran Turismo Sport was announced at last night’s Paris Games Week PlayStation Press Conference and is currently earmarked for a 2016 release, confirmed on the official PlayStation Blog, with a public beta expected to make way next Spring.
Gran Turismo isn’t the most reliable when it comes to scheduling as evidenced by delays affecting virtually every installment in the franchise in some way or another, and with the aforementioned confirmation that GT Sport will release some time next year, is Sony confident the game can be released on time without any trouble?
Jim Ryan, Sony Europe’s President and CEO is confident GT Sport will be delivered on time as he told Eurogamer:
“Yeah, we’re confident,” said Ryan. “There’s nothing at this stage to suggest that he won’t deliver on what was said. He’s obviously been working on this for a while now, it’s been a while since GT6 released, so we’re confident.”
Be sure to stop by GTPlanet’s new Gran Turismo Sport forum to discuss today’s and all future GT Sport announcements with the rest of the community.

Around The Planet 02: Dreaming About GT Sport’s User Interface

January 10th, 2016 by Kyle P.

Welcome to Around The Planet. No, we’re not a Daft Punk cover band. This feature will look at community-building threads around our forum, where folks can share their passion for one of our common bonds, on of the reasons we’re all here: sim racing, in its many forms.
Graphical user interfaces. On the face of it, a pretty dull combination of three words, the sort that you’d expect Agent Smith to utter in the Matrix. But well-designed GUI’s are essential. Look no further than your local road network, and the myriad signs that inhabit it. Look at the NYC subway map. Actually, don’t: we don’t want you getting lost.
A great GUI can have a major impact on a game, too. Gran Turismo 5’s main menu garnered a fair amount of criticism at the time of release for its unclear, sometimes-haphazard item placement. When GT6 rolled around in 2013, Polyphony Digital clearly heard the comments, as a comprehensive overhaul of the menus resulted in a cleaner, quicker experience.
With the announcement of GT Sport late last year, a popular thread in our forums was given a new lease on life. The re-christened GT7 and GT Sport User Interface Fan Art thread was started by Scuderia Paul all the way back in 2014, and if it sounds familiar, then you may have already heard about it in a Community Spotlight feature back in May. We’re going to look at just a few of the literally hundreds of images in the thread, so get comfortable.

Look at that. Paul leads by example here, starting the thread up with some serious eye-candy right off the bat. A crisp, clean background puts the Aston front and centre, and the man behind the design has cleverly combined the race liveries and Base Models approach of GT6 into the paint options themselves. How much easier would it be if we could pick out liveries based on events, as we purchase a car? As for the Aston itself, it appears Paul had a premonition, as the Vantage GT3 featured in the GT Sport announcement trailer.
In that same announcement trailer, Polyphony made mention of a Nations Cup, where players will get to represent their country against drivers around the world. Paul responded to this naturally, with an image that could easily pass as a legitimate screen grab from a game:

Next up, user HACHIR0KU gives us a splash page (the opening image up top) for how he’d like to see the game greet players upon first loading up. It follows the established GT Sport colour scheme, and sticks to simple, straight-forward menu options. Shortly after, he also posted an image for the Career Hub. The title cards for series in Polyphony’s games have always had their own style to them, and HACHIR0KU takes care to make sure these also carry a consistent tone.

User Grandea GTR has been a steady contributor to the thread, focusing on the usual menus, in addition to things like the HUD and tuning menu. Taking inspiration from GT2’s different cities, Grandea presents unique situations for the player at each login, with sales, special events, and even inclement weather. With the Gran Turismo franchise approaching the two-decade mark next year, some players may not have experienced the older titles, but Grandea has a solution for those looking to get a taste of them: a racing HUD that recall the originals! Below, you can see his updated take on the look of GT3:

Most recently, Nico_Ble99 has provided images for all sorts of aspects of the game. While they too follow the gold colour scheme of GT Sport, they also call to mind the older Playstation 2 games in their layout and general look. It’s a fine line between nostalgia and grave-digging, and Nico’s collection of images definitely fall into the former. Below, you can see his take on the main menu for GT Sport:

As GT Sport draws near, it will be interesting to see how close our community got to the final look. These are only a smattering of the images available in the full thread. Head on over there to see the rest, or contribute your own!

Gran Turismo Sport Sees 581% Pre-Order Boost After Playstation VR Reveal

March 16th, 2016 by Brendan R.

Playstation VR’s reveal has lead to massive pre-order numbers for the core device and related peripherals (such as the mandatory Playstation camera). Outside the hardware aspect of VR, an area of interest is the software that will have support for the headset.
It looks like consumers have voted with their wallet on what title they want to experience PSVR with the most – Gran Turismo Sport.
Placing 9th on Amazon UK’s ‘Movers and Shakers’ list, GT Sport has seen a 297% (it’s now up to 581%) pre-order growth since Playstation VR was revealed, as spotted by ThisGenGaming. This is particularly impressive given GT Sport’s non-existent presence in Playstation VR’s big blow-out of information.
Many other titles were shown off and touted with the new hardware, and yet the strength in one of Sony’s core IPs shone through – once again highlighting just how strongly the gaming community want Polyphony Digital’s first offering for the PS4. Hopefully this sends signals to Sony that capitalizing on this in the near future is a good idea!
Since its reveal, GT Sport has been strangely absent from all Playstation communications, and the last messaging stated the title was headed for a beta in ‘early 2016’ with an overall 2016 launch window. Recent rumours have worried fans however and perhaps this vested interest in the title, backed by buyers’ intentions to purchase, will give Sony the push to give us more information soon.

Gran Turismo Sport Event May 19 & 20: New Trailer, Hands-On Gameplay, FIA Event, and More!

May 12th, 2016 by Kyle Patrick

Bang the gongs, cue the avalanche of GIF’s – it’s happening! After over six months of silence, GT Sport is ready for its first gameplay showing. As you’d expect of a company that has announced a title at a racetrack (GT6), and taken over an entire town for a release party (GT6 again), Polyphony is pulling out all the stops, showcasing the PS4 title in downtown London, at the Copper Box Arena, a former Olympic site.
The two day event begins a week from today on May 19. Kicking off with a livestream of a brand new GT Sport trailer, this private portion of the event will include gameplay opportunities for the members of the press in attendance, as well as the beginning of the first GT Sport eSport event. GTPlanet founder Jordan will be present, even taking on commentary duties. The evening will look something like this:

You’ll have to excuse my infomercial tone here, but… “that’s not all!”. May 20 gets really interesting for fans eager to play the game, as Sony and PD will be opening up the event to a limited number of the public.
The game will be the main attraction of course, but with a record number of Vision GT models scattered around the space, a Q & A session with Kazunori Yamauchi himself, plus food and drinks, there will be plenty to do between test-driving Polyphony’s newest creation. Not to mention the numerous GTPlanet staff members that will be in attendance!
Wondering how you can gain access to this wild ride? Stay tuned!

Gran Turismo Sport Will Be Playable at Nürburgring 24 Hour Event

May 12th, 2016 by Michael Leary

The veil of silence has finally been lifted; Gran Turismo Sport is emerging from the shadows at a special event to be held in downtown London, at the Copper Box Arena, next week on the 19th and 20th of May.
As you’re no doubt aware of by now, the special event will be the host to a bevy of GT Sport-related activities: a brand-new trailer, private gameplay opportunities for members of the press (that’s us!), and the beginning of the first GT Sport eSport event. There will even be an opportunity for the general public to take a swing at the highly anticipated entry in the franchise, provided not only that they’re present for the event, but can get in to do so as the numbers will be limited.

The fun doesn’t end there though, because there’s the matter of this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hour racing event held in Central Germany from the 26th to the 29th of this month. While the professionals are on the track fighting for positions on the 25 kilometer behemoth, enthusiasts will be able to take part in the Germany Premiere for Gran Turismo Sport.
The premiere grants an opportunity to play GT Sport in a special booth for those attending the event, and will be able to test the game for themselves and record a few laps. The event is likely to attract quite a few personalities – who knows who you might see!
