Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is ready to launch a massive Spurs clear-out with up to 14 players facing the chop, including winger David Bentley and strikers Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko, who cost the London club £47.8m between them.

The chairman of the White Hart Lane club, Daniel Levy, has placed a £12m asking price on 24-year-old Bentley, who is interesting Aston Villa.

Spurs will battle it out with Sunderland and Stoke to sign centre-back Richard Dunne from Manchester City.

Also, Spurs' striker Giovani dos Santos is set to join Spanish club Espanyol on a year-long loan with a view to a permanent £5m switch.

Hans, who is his son's adviser, yesterday dismissed the prospect of Arjen joining Spurs as "absolute nonsense". He said: "We don't talk with Tottenham. At the moment we don't talk with any club. Things can change overnight, but one thing is sure, Arjen will certainly not join Tottenham."

Sevilla have pulled out a potential deal to sign Tottenham's Didier Zokora due to the London club's valuation of the Ivory Coast midfielder.

"The distance between what they asked and what we are willing to offer was so great that we left it there," said Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido.

"Zokora's not the only option. The number two on our list is just as valid an option as Zokora, and is younger."

But Del Nido also said the two clubs may speak again about the 28-year-old.

Tottenham are believed to want to recoup at least the £8.2m they paid French club St Etienne for Zokora's services after his impressive 2006 World Cup performances for the Ivory Coast.

"We requested permission from Tottenham to talk to him because we wanted to know what his disposition was, and he would be very excited to play in a competition he never has before in the Champions League," added Del Nido. "But we must deal with a level head."

The signing of Wilson Palacios from Wigan in January saw Zokora largely displaced from Harry Redknapp's starting line-up and he has completed 90 minutes in the league just three times since the Honduran's arrival.

A stint at right-back proved unsuccessful and a particularly gruelling encounter against Aston Villa's left winger Ashley Young saw the former St Etienne player substituted just 35 minutes into his side's 2-1 win.

Sevilla and Tottenham clashed over the way the White Hart Lane side recruited former manager Juande Ramos in October 2007 and the dispute was only concluded when the two clubs reached an out-of-court settlement on Monday.
