April 2, 2009 - Last week, Burn, Zombie, Burn! came to the PlayStation Network. If you didn't pick it up or scope IGN's review, the gist is that you're one man against an army of the undead. You scoot across colorful levels blasting cutie-pie zombies to bits and having a cartoony time.

Zombie Apocalypse is like that -- except it ditches the cuddly undead for grotesque roamers, tosses in some filthy environments and gives you that Left 4 Dead "all hope is lost" vibe.

Set to arrive sometime in the second quarter of this year, Zombie Apocalypse is a twin-stick shooter that casts you as one of four survivors. Your goal is to survive wave after wave of flesh-hungry zombies for as many days as you can. You'll always have a chainsaw and machine gun with unlimited ammo (shooting's controlled via the right stick), but there will be ten other weapons such as the chaingun and flamethrower for your to pick up and take on the undead with.

The demo I have in the office gives me the chance to play as any of the four survivors -- the game does support both online and offline co-op -- for three days in two of the game's seven environments. See, "surviving" a day means making it through every wave of brain-eaters that place has to offer. So, in my build, beating day one means surviving every zombie on the tarmac of an airport, day two is set at a junkyard and day three is back to the airport. When the final game comes to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, expect 55 days of horror.

From what I've played, Zombie Apocalypse is bloody fun. Zombies pop up, you point the right stick in the undead's direction and the bad guy's body begins to fly apart in a hail of gunfire and mists of blood. It's totally possible to have zombies chasing you that are missing limbs, have huge holes in their chests and that are even missing heads. The majority of the time, you'll be able to dole out the punishment with your grenade launcher or shotgun and be pretty safe, but -- just like in real life -- the biggest threat in the game is letting the zombie count get too high and having the throngs of rotting flesh surround you.

When that happens, one of the zombies will grab you and attempt to wrestle you to the ground. You can shake the creature off by rocking the left stick (or, if you prefer on the PS3, shaking the controller), but eventually you'll get taken down. Thankfully, the character you choose -- either the doctor named Harlan, the schizophrenic athlete Natalie, videogame nerd Jimmy86, or bitter security guard Ed -- has a colored circle around his or her feet for easy identification in the sea of zombies that will beseech you. You'll clear some bodies off of the screen and suddenly more and more ghouls will crawl out from underneath manhole covers or building entrances.

See, there are your normal amounts of plain ol' undead, but there are a handful of special cases. The Sheriff wields a shotgun, Dodgers can side-step your attacks pretty easily and the dudes dressed as construction workers are Big Boys and their grapples can't be broken. There are some other baddies -- such as the Queen and her flying spawn -- but they're not included in this taste of the game.

No matter the type of zombie you're up against, you have a few ways to clean their clocks. Sure, you can just blast them with whatever gun you've got, but you can also make use of some special stuff. For starters, there are usually exploding barrels littered all over the level, but you'll also find yourself packing Teddy Bear Bait. These are stuffed animals that you toss out in the environment that beep, talk and attract every zombie in earshot. This leads to huddled masses of bad guys and that leads to the bear exploding and killing everyone.

Also up for your killing tool consideration is the chainsaw strapped to your back. At anytime, you can whip this tool out to cut down zombies who have gotten too close for comfort, but you can also tap another button to pull off a Chainsaw Execution. Here, your survivor hoists the chainsaw above his or her head and drives it into whichever zombie is in front of him. For a few seconds, the chain twirls, the blood rains and the zombie falls. Thing is, the move leaves you stationary for a few seconds so it's easy for the other zombies to surround you; however, it also adds three points to your score multiplier.

Boomsticks are fun.

Yup, if you haven't figured out that this was a high-score chasin' affair, the cat's out of the bag. Every zombie you kill nets you some points and every five zombies you kill adds one point to the multiplier. When you lose a life, the multiplier resets to zero. Now, you can see how important the Chainsaw Execution and its automatic plus-three to the multiplier is. Another boost to the score comes from the random appearance of survivors. Every so often, a crying lady in a blue pantsuit will come onto the scene and beg for your help. If you can defend her long enough, a ladder will drop from an off-screen helicopter in the sky. It'll take her away and leave an exploding teddy bear for your arsenal and net you 250,000 points. If you don't protect her and the zombies get her, the woman will immediately come back as an infected with her smart suit torn apart and head bleeding. She won't be distracted by bears and she'll really want to kill you.

When you survive a day, your character does a little dance and says something and then you're graded on a golf-like score card on how many kills you got, limbs you removed, survivors you rescued and so on -- including hazard kills. See, at the airport there's a jet engine turning and a helicopter blade cutting into the ground while there's a car crusher at the junkyard. If you shoot a zombie while he or she is standing in front of these objects, they'll stumble back into the killing devices. Seeing as how it takes a few shots to drop a member of the undead brigade, these autokills can be pretty helpful.

Zombie Apocalypse is bloody, filled with explosions and will supposedly have seven unlockable game modes. I had fun playing by myself, but when Roper popped on to play we were both a bit surprised that the amount of zombies didn't immediately skyrocket -- suddenly it was two people fighting the same number of undead folks one person was -- but hopefully this will balance out as you play. I'm a bit worried that 55 days spread across seven locations could get repetitive, but who knows how that's going to play out.

Still, I'm excited to see where Zombie Apocalypse is going. Killing endless waves of the undead is right up my alley.

IGNにて、PSNやXBLA用の新作ゾンビシューティングゲームZombie Apocalypseのプレビューが掲載されています。本作の開発を担当するのは、PS3とXbox 360のアクションゲームConanを手掛けたNihilistic Software。動画を見ての通りLeft 4 DeadとSmash TVを組み合わせたかのような、とっつきやすいアーケードスタイルのシューターになっています。

以下、IGNのプレビューからわかった本作の情報をまとめました。

* Geometry Warsのようなデュアルスティック操作（左スティックでキャラクターの移動、右スティックで攻撃）

* 四人の生存者が登場（警備員のEd、ゲームおたくのJimmy86、統合失調症のアスリートNatalie、医師のHarlan）

* チェーンソーとマシンガンは弾数無限の標準武器

* その他にもチェインガンや火炎放射器など10種類以上の武器を用意

* オンラインとオフラインのCo-opに対応

* “何日間”生存できるかがゲームの目的。製品版では55日間分のステージが用意される

之前玩DEMO都爆左, 其實都OK悶, 而且好難死.....可能得初階果D掛, 而且用最CHEAP果把槍先係最勁, 用左老虎機關槍會好易死~~~!!!

不過見有喪B~~~~~應該都會買~~~~!!!!!
