A man walks into a weird amusement park, baseball in hand, and he's surrounded by people in weird costumes (a football player, an giant tiger). Things explode! Everyone explodes! It's called Codename D. (Yup, this is definitely a Suda 51 game.)



11:14AM The Microsoft/Grasshopper partnership has prompted "very new innovation," Suda says. "With a new interface we are confident in creating games." He can't reveal too many details yet -- there won't be guns, there won't swords. But it's a core action game, Suda says, and it's for the studio's hardcore action fans. Trailer time!

11:12AM The Grasshopper CEO explains that "many fans" have requested an Xbox 360 title -- and "now we are able to respond to such requests." He's eager to work with Microsoft -- "it was a long dating period. We both like David Bowie."



11:11AM Spencer introduces Suda 51, designer behind titles like Killer 7 and the recently announced Shadows of the Damned. Hmm, a Kinect game from Grasshopper Manufacture?

Grasshopper has given its Kinect project Codename D a title, and revealed it as a typically eccentric Xbox Live Arcade game.

Unveiled at Grasshopper's conference at the Tokyo Game Show - or, in the developer's own parlance, the Grasshopper Cocktail Party - the game is an amped-take on baseball, with the player pitching balls to dispose of hordes of enemies.

Players can also swing their bats to dispose of enemies, who are often seen sporting mascot-like outfits.

A two player mode also features, with the ability to pick up downed partners glimpsed. Brilliantly, touching fists with your partner powers up a fireball which can then tear through the crowd.

Diabolical Pitch rounds up an extensive and diverse line-up from Grasshopper Manufacture, who are also producing Black Knight Sword and Sine Mora in collaboration with Hungarian outfit Digital Reality.

The game was touted by Microsoft Japan's Richard Newman as an example of a core Kinect game, and has been in development for over a year.

It'll be hitting Xbox Live at an undisclosed date later this year.

Diabolical Pitch, less diabolical SNK savings on Xbox Live this week

This week on Xbox Live is the premiere of Diabolical Pitch for Kinect, and, for when your arm inevitably gets tired, savings on SNK games that use the normal controller. From today through the 9th, King of Fighters '98, 2002, and Sky Stage, Metal Slugs 3 and XX, and Trouble Witches are all 50% off. Rockstar is holding a "Max Payne sale" as well, with 33% savings.

Next week will see the arrival of Fez and a Call of Duty DLC sale. We wonder how the network will handle the combination of those two events.
