[NBC Los Angeles] Encore: Yoshiki Piano Auction Re-Tunes
After a hiatus, bidding will resume April 25-28 for a crystal Kawai CR-40 piano owned by one of Japan's biggest rock stars

A charity auction to benefit Japan disaster relief that peaked at $20 million and was temporarily shut down will now reopen with the bidding reset to half a million dollars, according to an online post from auction officials.

Proceeds from the sale of a crystal Kawai CR-40 piano belonging to Japanese rock star Yoshiki will be donated to Japan earthquake and tsunami relief. The auction began March 17, but was put on hiatus just two days later.

"Yahoo! Auctions has determined an exception was necessary due to an overload of unexpected high volume traffic, high bidding prices and the time required for bidder confirmation procedures; and has temporarily suspended the bidding process on this auction," according to a notice posted on j-grab.com, the website coordinating the bidding.

Bidding reached $20 million before the auction was put on hold, said Atsu Wada, j-grab.com spokesman. Insiders say there were concerns over the authenticity of the bids.

The last confirmed bid Yahoo was able to verify was $512,231.70. That will be the new starting price when bidding reopens April 25. The auction now ends April 28.

According to Yahoo Auctions, it has restructured its system and "bidders pledging over $609,756 must give prior I.D. confirmation."

Yoshiki, who is spearheading the Japan Relief Fundraising Auction with help from Yahoo Japan, is the first of many celebrities donating items to the project. Other big names include Britney Spears, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson, Cher, Marilyn Manson, Anthony Kiedis and Stan Lee.

The auction is a part of Yoshiki's relief efforts through Yoshiki Foundation America, a California non-profit, public benefit corporation.

[ARTISTdirect] X Japan Announces International Tour Plans

We love X Japan here at ARTISTidrect.com because they are so much fun! They've sold more than 30-million records and DVDs, filled the 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome a record-breaking 18 times, made their North American concert debut last summer at the Lollapalooza festival, and sold out their New York City debut at the famed Roseland Ballroom. Now, for the first time ever, X Japan will bring its long-awaited, epic rock'n'roll to Europe with four special concerts set to take place in London (June 28th), Paris (July 1st), Amsterdam (July 2nd), and Berlin (July 4th).

The London show was originally scheduled for the O2 Academy, and the Berlin venue was Huxleys, but with both of those shows selling out in about 30-minutes, the show's promoters have moved the concerts to larger venues! If that's not proof that X Japan need to be on your radar, then nothing else is!

More X Japan concerts are currently being confirmed around the globe and will be announced shortly.

"We are all so excited to finally come and play in Europe," said Yoshiki, X Japan's leader/drummer/pianist/songwriter. "Because we've never played Europe before, we didn't know how many fans we had there, so we're so excited to have this kind of support."

In addition, X Japan has confirmed they will play a special guest slot at the two-day "Summer Sonic" festival set for August 13th in Osaka and August 14th in Tokyo. Although on its own, X Japan sells out Japanese venues twice the size of the "Summer Sonic," it is a big honor for the band to be part of this bill as the annual festival features the biggest and most-buzzed about international artists. This year's headliners also include the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Strokes, and X Japan will play immediately before the Chili Peppers!

In Asia, X Japan - Toshi (vocals), Pata and Sugizo (guitars), Heath (bass), and Yoshiki (drums, piano) - plays arenas and stadiums, bringing elaborate production including lasers, catwalks, and holograms. For the UK/European and South American dates, X Japan will tailor its "stadium-sensibility theatrics" to the more intimate venues, focusing primarily on its "Queen-meets-Guns N' Roses-meets-The-Matrix" rock assault. That's why we love them - they are completely and totally audio visual.

"We had a wonderful time last fall on our first North American tour, playing theaters, something we hadn't been able to do in Japan since the early days," Yoshiki explained. "We were able to make a strong connection with our audiences because they were right there, just feet away from the stage. I even crowd-surfed a few times! So, we're looking forward to the same sort of close-up-and-personal but intense experience on these dates."

Yoshiki and X Japan's vocalist Toshi were in Paris last July, making a special appearance for more than 5,000 fans. The duo performed a handful of X Japan songs "unplugged," and had the entire audience singing the chorus to one of the band's most exquisite compositions, "Endless Rain."

The members of X Japan have been writing and recording what will be their first album to be released outside of Japan with English lyrics. According to Yoshiki, about half of the album will feature some of the band's most popular songs from throughout their career, with nearly all of the lyrics re-recorded in English, and the other half, brand new songs written specially for this album. The album's first single will be "Jade," and will be on the 2011 European set lists as well.

[成報] 拍寫真呼籲捐款　Shenae傳播愛心

　　《90210》女星Shenae Grimes為了呼籲Fans向日本災民捐款，特別穿着背心熱褲拍攝了一輯題為「散播愛心」的寫真，並由知名攝影師Tyler Shields操刀拍攝。而日本女星中川翔子則在橫濱舉行慈善騷，並且親自拿着捐款箱向觀眾募捐，人氣組合EXILE也計劃捐出節目中的服裝作義賣籌款。

　　現年21的Shenae Grimes出身自加拿大，原來在上月日本發生地震的時候，Shenae正身在日本的東京，雖然最後安全離開，但親眼看到嚴重的災情，仍令她深受震撼，因此Shenae希望能運用自己的影響力，去呼籲Fans支持日本賑災活動，早前她已在官網上呼籲Fans拿出購買非必需品的閒錢，透過X JAPAN隊長Yoshiki在美國成立的慈善基金「Yoshiki Foundation」幫助日本災民。

　　今次Shenae拍這輯寫真是希望更多人關注她的「散播愛心」活動，在寫真中她僅穿背心和熱褲，除了在眼角下繪上黑色的心形外，還以雙手擺出心形圖案。除了人氣電視劇《90210》外，Shenae最近還客串演出了新上映《奪命狂呼4》。

中川翔子橫濱開賑災騷

　　日本宅男偶像中川翔子日前與組合Rag Fair等14名歌手一起在橫濱舉辦賑災演唱會「POWER OF MUSIC 2011」，中川翔子更親自拿起捐款箱向觀眾募捐，她表示：「希望能用歌曲的力量為大家帶來笑容。」活動的收益也會全數捐到災區作重建之用。此外，共有 14人的男子組合EXILE捐出他們主持的電視節目《EXILE魂》昨晚所穿的14套服裝，包括襯衫和外套等，作網上拍賣為地震的災民籌款，拍賣時間直到今天晚上，所得款項會全數透過日本紅十字會捐到災區。

4月17日から始まったX JAPANのYOSHIKI使用「クリスタルピアノ」のチャリティーオークションですが、Yahoo!オークションとしても予想を遥かに上回るアクセス数がありシステムへの負荷が過度となってしまった為、また、入札価格があまりにも高額となったことによる参加者への確認作業も必要となった為に、異例ではありますが、やむを得ずシステムの一時停止の措置をとらせていただきました。

[RBB TODAY] 締め切りまであと1日、YOSHIKIのピアノは400万円台で落ち着いた入札に

　X JAPANのYOSHIKIが東日本大震災のチャリティーオークションに出品した愛用のクリスタルピアノの入札締め切りが明日28日に迫った。一時期は100億円以上の値がついたが、今は落ち着いている。

　27日正午時点での入札価格は4,224,000円。ただ頻繁に更新されており、まだまだ入札価格が上昇する可能性はありそうだ。このピアノの入札価格は18日深夜に1億円を突破し、19日午前に10億円を突破、20日深夜には100億円を突破した。このため同オークションページのトップに「入札前のお願い」を掲載。「落札意思の確認のため、一定の金額以上での入札の場合は、事前に本人確認を行わせていただきます」と掲示された。入札締め切りは28日 19時までとなっている。

[BARKS] X JAPAN、ヨーロッパに続き、南米ツアーを発表

X JAPANのワールドツアー第2弾にあたる＜南米ツアー＞の開催が発表された。

これはX JAPANのエージェントである米国のWilliam Morris Endeavor Entertainmentから発表されたもので、9月9日（金）から18日（日）にかけて、チリ、ブラジル、アルゼンチン、ペルー、メキシコの5ヵ国をまわるというものだ。

英国・欧州ツアーにおいては、ロンドン公演とベルリン公演のチケットが即完し、急遽3倍以上のキャパ会場へ変更をしたのは先日お伝えしたとおりだが、ロンドン公演は再度ソールドアウトとなってしまった。ヨーロッパでの彼らを求める声は増大する一方で、もはや世界中のさまざまなエリアでX JAPANのカリスマ的な存在感が、急速な拡大を見せている。ツアーの発表に対しキャパシティーが追いつかず、既に発表されているフランス公演に続いて、 7月2日のオランダ公演も新たに追加発表となった。

そんな欧州での人気に後押しされるかのように、発表されたのがワールドツアー第2弾の南米ツアーだ。南米におけるハードサウンドの絶大なる人気は特筆すべきものがある。メロディックながらヘヴィ、ハードながら美メロというX JAPANの基本サウンドは、南米で激震を走らせることになるだろう。

「努力すれば必ず夢は叶う。その信念を持って、このまま前進していきたい。」とYOSHIKIは気炎を吐く。多彩な才能を有しながらも、音楽へのストイックさが前面に立つと融通の利かない不器用なアーティストになってしまうYOSHIKIだが、その職人気質とピュアな感性こそが、オーディエンスをひきつけてやまない言葉の壁を越える「生き様を映す美学」であろう。

[SANSPO] Ｘ　ＪＡＰＡＮ、９月に初南米ツアー！

　ロックバンド、Ｘ　ＪＡＰＡＮが、９月に初の南米ツアーを行うことを２８日、発表した。世界ツアーの一環で、９月９日のチリを皮切りに５公演が決定。昨秋の北米ツアーを大成功に終えており、これでアメリカ大陸を制することになる。夢の世界制覇へ向けて、リーダーのＹＯＳＨＩＫＩは「このまま前進していきたい」と宣言した。

　世界制覇の次の一歩は南米に記される。サンケイスポーツの電話取材に応じたＹＯＳＨＩＫＩは「北米ツアーはロスから最終地のニューヨークまで、お客さんの反応を見ながら構成を変えていった。今回はもっと攻撃的にいきたい。自分の限界に挑戦します」と宣言した。

　すでに南米以外の国からもオファーを受けており、「体が過密なスケジュールに耐えられるか、医師やスタッフと相談していますが、公演場所が増える可能性もあります」と明かし、欧州、南米ツアーに続き“第３弾”のツアーが近く発表されることも示唆した。

　各会場では欧州ツアー同様に東日本大震災の被災者救済のため、募金活動、チャリティーグッズの販売など世界各国に支援を呼び掛けるほか、歌唱曲は震災で発売を延期している北米デビューシングル「ＪＡＤＥ」や新曲「Ｂｏｒｎ　ｔｏ　ｂｅ　ｆｒｅｅ」、１５年ぶりの新アルバム（タイトル未定）の収録曲を初披露するプランもある。

　またこの日、７月２日のオランダ公演が欧州ツアーに追加されることも発表し、ＹＯＳＨＩＫＩはサンケイスポーツ読者に「努力すれば夢は叶う。その信念を持って、このまま前進していきたい。何があっても前に進んでいこうという姿勢で、みんなで頑張りましょう」とメッセージを寄せた。

One of Japan’s most renowned rock bands, known by the very fitting name X JAPAN, have announced an extension of their world tour, which is set to begin this year.

Band member YOSHIKI took to social networking site Twitter to announce the exciting news of new dates and a chance to meet fans far beyond the band’s native country. Among the new additions are Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and more.

The group will begin the world tour in London, England on June 28th and will take their show to the Netherlands, France, and Germany before returning to Japan in August and traveling to the newly added stops in September.

[NBC Los Angeles] Yoshiki's Crystal Piano Nets $130K for Japan Relief

After 1,454 bids and a brief hiatus due to some runaway bidding, a crystal piano has raised more than $130,000 for Japan earthquake and tsunami relief.

The piano's now-former owner, Yoshiki, is one of the biggest rock stars in Japan. The instrument was put on the auction block as part of Yoshiki Foundation America's fundraising efforts.

Yahoo! Auctions, who co-sponsored the project, was forced to shut down bidding after offers reached as high as $20 million. After restructuring its verification system, including prior I.D. confirmation for some bids, the auction reopened on April 25.

On Friday, the bidding closed with a final price of $134,766.63.

Yoshiki is working with other big names to help raise funds. An outfit worn by Britney Spears during a Japanese candy commercial fetched $5,065.62.

英国・欧州において大きな存在感を示しつつあるX JAPAN のワールドツアー第2弾となる「南米ツアー」の開催が、日本時間4月28日、X JAPANのエージェントであるWilliam Morris Endeavor Entertainment（米国）から発表された。

【明報專訊】日本搖滾勁旅X Japan隊長Yoshiki捐出心愛水晶鋼琴，在日本雅虎網拍賣為大地震籌款，雖然早前被惡搞出價6億日圓（約5717萬港元），令雅虎一度中斷拍賣，但前天終於以1100.1萬日圓（約105萬港元）成交，賣方資料卻沒有披露。另一方面，X Japan繼6月底舉行首次歐洲巡迴演唱會後，9月更會踏足南美，在智利、巴西、阿根廷、秘魯及墨西哥舉行5場演出。

　　搜狐娛樂訊搖滾樂隊X JAPAN隊長YOSHIKI為此次東日本大地震捐出的水晶鋼琴，28日晚7點，在雅虎日本拍賣網站上以1100萬1000日元的價格正式成交。

　　此次拍賣從17日中午12點3分以一日元價格起拍，途中因為有人故意搗亂要出60億日元天價，所以拍賣19日一度中止。25日下午5點左右，拍賣在降低價格之後重新開始。這次拍賣的所有金額將全部捐給災區。

　　另外，本月10日J2橫濱FC的足球選手三浦知良的球鞋，也以777萬8777日元價格成交。

[Anime Central] Guest Announcement - Yoshiki

Anime Central is excited to welcome back Yoshiki to this year’s convention! As drummer, pianist and songwriter for X-Japan (he also plays guitar, bass and trumpet), Yoshiki has been called Asia’s largest rock icon and most influential musical artist.

He has also developed his own lines of jewelry, wine and kimonos, and his non-profit corporation Yoshiki Foundation America has helped organizations such as Make-A-Wish and St. Vincent Meals on Wheels (and has recently partnered with the Japan America Society of Southern California to help with Japan’s earthquake relief efforts).

Expected later this year, comic book legend Stan Lee will be publishing a super hero comic book based on Yoshiki. At his panel for this year’s convention, Yoshiki will be showing a special video for his fans. Please be sure to attend!

(May 4, 2011) Fans rejoice as they are invited to join international rock-star Yoshiki (X Japan) at Anime Central-the Midwest¹s largest anime convention happening May 20-22, 2011 in Rosemont, IL at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare and the Rosemont Convention Center! Despite the busy schedule of rehearsing and preparing for the band's upcoming European Tour, Yoshiki will be participating in a panel and an autograph session on May 21st from 3:00 pm 5:00 pm.

"This will be my 2nd time attending Anime Central," states Yoshiki, X Japan's leader/drummer/pianist/songwriter, "I have been working on multiple projects so I can¹t wait to see all my fans and share with them what I have been up to!"

Fans will be in for a treat as Yoshiki will be showing videos including never-before-seen footage beginning at 3:00 pm, followed by a 1-hour panel. Yoshiki's autograph session is scheduled as well. The locations of the aforementioned activities have yet to be determined.

Yoshiki fans will also have the opportunity to witness Yoshiki recording his own Sirius XM radio show at Anime Central! The recording location has yet to be determined.

[BARKS] hideフィルムコンサート、大歓声と涙

1998年に33歳で急死したX JAPANのギタリストhideの過去のライブ映像を大スクリーンで見せるフィルムコンサートが、CLUBCITTA'で命日の5月2日に開かれた。公演は2部制で、第2部アンコールでは3月から東名などで行なったミュージカル「ピンクスパイダー」に出演した武田真治、渡部豪太らがサプライズで登場。武田真治が「everfree」の楽曲に合わせ舞台でも演奏したサックスを披露したほか、「ROCKETDIVE」を合唱するなどし盛り上げた。武田真治は「これはロックミュージカル『ピンクスパイダー』の第一章の終わりであり、第二章の始まり。再演するときは、ここにいる全員が観にきてくれますね？」と呼びかけると会場に集まった1400人から拍手が沸き起こっていた。

＜hide FILM ALIVE!!～hide Memorial Day 2011＞と題したフィルムライブは、第1部が1994年3月～5月に全12会場で16公演を展開したファーストソロツアー＜HIDEOURPSYCHOMMUNITY～hideの部屋へようこそ～＞の最終日横浜アリーナ公演を。第2部は1996年9月～10月に全13会場18公演を行なったセカンドソロツアー＜PSYENCEAGOGO＞の最終日国立代々木競技場第一体育館でのステージを大スクリーンに映し出し、ライブを再現した。

フィルムでは、「TELLME」などを歌うhideの映像のほか楽屋風景も放映。第2部の本編最後に流れた「GOODBYE」では、hideの「青い空なんて大っ嫌いって言っていた俺が青い空へ戻ります」の声に泣き出すファンの姿もあった。

2010年の命日には、築地本願寺で十三回忌法要が営まれ、一般献花には早朝から3万5000人が列を作った。この日も本願寺には、13年前に息を引き取った午前8時52分に黙とうを捧げる人、ほか本堂内にあるhideの写真が置かれたテーブルの前で手を合わせる人などの姿が。真っ赤なバラの花束が手向けられたテーブルには誰もが自由に思いを書き込むことができる「hideノート」があり、ノートには「ずっとずっとhideちゃんのこと忘れないよ。胸に大事にしまって、毎日をちゃんと生きています」、「X JAPANが海外で暴れるらしいので、ムチャしないようYOSHIKIさんのこと、とめてあげてね」など、様々な思いが寄せられている。栃木県から来た 30代の女性は「お墓参りの前に寄りました。今日はみんながhideさんとつながる日」と目を赤くした。

YOSHIKIは自身のTwitter（5/2付）で「Dear friend….You still breathe….and will always live in side my heart…」「…and the spirit of Hide will be with us….on our tour as well!」とメッセージ。盟友への熱い思いと、変わらぬ絆を記した。

X JAPANは6月28日のロンドンを皮切りに、7月1日のパリ、同2日にユトレヒト、同4日のベルリンで初の欧州ツアーを、9月9日からはチリなど5公演を予定。hideは、クラブイベント＜クラブサイエンス＞を6月30日に新宿MARZで予定している。

On March 6th, 2011, one of the most exciting collaborations between fashion and music would gather nearly 12,000 fans, bringing rock and style to a new level.
GIRLS COLLECTION producer Jay FR and X JAPAN's YOSHIKI had set out to show that there "was no fashion without music and no music without fashion".

The ASIA GIRLS EXPLOSION started with the presentation of "kitgirl", which showed sexy transparent wear with wide-flowing gowns, matched with shorts and high-heels. All the creations where held in black and white and held a seductive but innocent touch.

It was X JAPAN's HEATH who walked out last, dressed in an elegant coat, the many silver accessories shimmering brightly, surely portraying the image of "ROCK".

After this opening presentation, the concept of the show was once again presented on the large screens, which had been set up around the stage.

"ASIA - Anger Sorrow in Aquarium"; where the words that would lead throughout the concept, portraying Japan in the focus of fashion under the view of the creators of the show. Moreover, the show had been split in two parts, whereas the first part led through a history of fashion for men from the 40s to today - portrayed with the designs and concepts of recent designers in Japan.

"Only fools can change the world"

Uniforms and uniform styles, kaki-pants and suspenders dominated the first part of the show, as the curtains rose for the presentation of the 40s to 50s era of men. It was then that Marylyn Manson entered the stage and walked the cat-walk in a wide black suit and a long scarf, receiving cheers from the crowd.
The 60s and 70s era was shown with workers wear, such as overalls, helmets, hippie-style and British shirts and vests. Japanese and non-Japanese models earned cheers alike as they strode along the cat walk.
With the 80s and 90s era shown, over-sized suits, punk clothes and sneakers showed much of what is still perceived as sings of certain genres in music as well today. Studs and safety pins, along with leather and chains already proved that there was no fashion without music.

The 2000 to 2010 fashion followed suit with expressive hip-hop and rave-styles in bright neo-colors and leopard print, while also showing anime prints.

"Who will judge the truth? What is fake and what is real?"

While the first part had shown men's styles in chronological order, the next part would start of with the most recent female trends and take a turn towards its origins in the past.

"The 21st century will be the century of women. Women will recreate and bring rebirth."

Japanese fashion, as it might be perceived by westerners especially, was shown with flowery dresses and Japanese gals' style. Strong make-up and a multitude of accessories, along with Lolita and Gothic Lolita fashion reflected what is often seen as Harajuku-kei fashion - typical for Japan.
However, the 90s and 80s period went back to more western styles with techno-outfits a la "Marusha", with bright neo colors. Plaid skirts and neon-patterns represented the rock-era for girls and the "School-girl" style also left an impression, as it is sure still present these days.

As an intermezzo to the fashion part, the two Australian DJs "Nervo" heated up the crowd, before it was eventually time for Violet U.K. to present a stunning performance. While YOSHIKI was playing the piano, the female vocalist presented her strong and alluring voice, with SUGIZO adding a different feeling to the strong atmosphere with his violin!

Among the performance of Violet U.K. YOSHIKI's new fashion brand "YOSHIKIMONO" was presented, showing outrageously sexy designs on the models, incorporating Japanese designs with punk and rock styles. Glitter and accessories, platform boots, flower designs and net-stockings.

Thereafter, the girls' fashion representing the 70s and 60s, showed cute, yet strict designs with cylinders and walking sticks, hippie-styles and short skirts. The whole presentation was accompanied with live music, and eventually YOSHIKI took his seat at the piano at the end of the cat-walk, while the 40s and 50s for girls fashion marked the end of the fashion show.

Finally, it was time for X JAPAN to appear - the part of the event most fans had been waiting for. The atmosphere changed completely and turned into a concert like show. "Let's go Tokyo!" ToshI shouted and X JAPAN presented their songs "Born to be free" and "JADE". While YOSHIKI took his place behind the piano again, he asked ToshI to sing "Scarlet Love Song" for him, which is the theme song for the new animation movie "Buddha".

Amongst cheers and calls, X JAPAN presented their first show with lots of passion and the warm calls from their fans of the year 2011.

Eventually, all participants gathered again on stage, thanking the audience and bringing the show to a glorious closing!

The hourlong monthly show will feature his favorite music, including Japanese acts, and spotlight elements of Japanese pop culture -- from sushi and anime to Hello Kitty and Wii.

SiriusXM's next musician-hosted show will have a decidedly Eastern flavor.

Yoshiki, co-founder of X Japan, a power metal band that's hugely popular in its native country and is making a stateside push, will launch Yoshiki Radio on May 27. The hourlong monthly show will feature his favorite music, including Japanese acts, and spotlight elements of Japanese pop culture -- from sushi and anime to Hello Kitty and Wii.

"I'd like to help tear down the wall between East and West," Yoshiki says. "I want to show people that there is no one language, no real boundaries when it comes to music and art and that we are all more alike than not."

X Japan has been among the biggest bands in its homeland since breaking out with its sophomore album Blue Blood in 1989. The group made its U.S. concert debut at Lollapalooza last year and followed with a seven-date American tour of theaters. X Japan signed with EMI in January, and its English-language debut album is due this year.

"We love introducing listeners to bands they may not otherwise hear on other audio platforms," says Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM's president and chief content officer. "Yoshiki Radiowill feature his pioneering choices of songs that mix musical worlds."

After launching at 8 p.m. ET on May 27, the show will air the first Sunday of every month at 9 p.m. ET on SiriusXM's channel the Boneyard, which plays classic hard rock.

Says Yoshiki of his first radio hosting gig, "I hope my exposure of unique music choices to the West will allow me to show, with pride, a beautiful side of our culture in these difficult times."

May 12, 2011 -- Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) announced today that Yoshiki, Japanese icon and leader of Japan’s multi-million-selling, superstar rock band X Japan, will host his first-ever radio show, “Yoshiki Radio,” on SiriusXM’s The Boneyard, Channel 38. “Yoshiki Radio,” the hour-long monthly show, will launch on Friday, May 27 at 8:00PM ET. Beginning Sunday, June 5, “Yoshiki Radio” will air the first Sunday of every month at 9:00PM ET.

“Yoshiki Radio” will offer an eclectic mix of East meets West, and will include Yoshiki’s personal favorite music tracks, and music from artists that have influenced him, as well as an introduction to some of Japan’s most innovative and successful artists. X Japan is one of the most successful rock bands in Japanese history, and the heart of X Japan is Yoshiki, songwriter, drummer, producer, and classically-trained pianist who also plays guitar, bass and trumpet. [BARKS] YOSHIKI、米衛星ラジオ放送シリウスXMで「YOSHIKIラジオ」スタート

YOSHIKIが、米シリウスXMの「ザ・ボーンヤード」で自身初のラジオ番組「YOSHIKIラジオ」をスタートさせる。「YOSHIKIラジオ」は1 時間番組で、5月27日（金）午後8時（米東部時間）から毎月放送、6月5日（日）以降は毎月第1日曜日の午後9時（同）からの放送となる予定だ。

「YOSHIKIラジオ」では、YOSHIKI自身のお気に入りの曲や、自身に影響を与えたアーティストの音楽も含め、寿司からソニー、任天堂Wii、ハローキティ、アニメにいたるまで、すでに米国人の生活に足跡を残す日本のポップカルチャーの要素も取り上げていくつもりとのこと。

　Yahoo!オークションで開催している「東日本大震災チャリティーオークション」で、合計落札額が1億円を突破した。もっとも高額で落札されたのはYOSHIKI愛用「特製クリスタルピアノ」で1,100万円超だった。

　「東日本大震災チャリティーオークション」は、東日本大震災の被災地支援を目的に3月24日から開催。すでに約1,000商品が出品されその落札代金の全額が福祉団体などを通して寄付されている。

　Yahoo! JAPANによれば、合計落札額は5月10日5時現在の速報値で113,519,722円で、開始から約50日で1億円を突破したことになる。落札額ランキング1位はYOSHIKI愛用「特製クリスタルピアノ」で11,001,000円、2位は和泉つばすイラストサイン色紙と10周年画集 2,811,000円、3位は佐藤琢磨選手/サイン入り2004年F1ヘルメット2,521,000円となっている。

　同オークションはまだ開催されており、5月9日からは、田原総一郎氏のランチ付き生討論権などが出品されているほか、今後も「Yoshiki Foundation America」から、クリント・イーストウッドのサイン入りDVDコレクションやジョニー・デップのサイン入りTシャツ、レッド・ホット・チリペッパーズの商品、「ザ・レジェンド・チャリティープロアマトーナメント大会」から、プロゴルファーの石川遼選手をはじめとする大会参加者の商品などが出品される予定だ。

「手塚治虫のブッダ」完成披露試写会　全国14劇場にライブ中継」
5月28日全国公開となる劇場アニメ『手塚治虫のブッダ　－赤い砂漠よ！美しく－』がいよいよ完成。5月11日に東京・丸の内TOEIにて、完成披露試写会が行われた。
　原作は手塚治虫さんの晩年の名作、それをもとに東映アニメーションが劇場オリジナル巨編として映画化、完成披露試写会はそうした大作映画に相応しい華やかなものとなった。ゲストには登場人物のキャストを担当した吉永小百合さん、堺雅人さん、観世清和さん、吉岡秀隆さん、黒谷友香さん、観世三郎太さんが並び、またメーンタイトルを担当した尺八演奏の藤原道山さん、森下孝三監督も登壇した。
　さらに本完成披露試写会は本会場以外に全国14劇場で同時開催し、舞台挨拶の様子をライブ中継した。満員の本会場をはじめ、全国のファンに一足早く映画が届けた。
吉永小百合さんが演じたのは、ナレーションとシッタルダと対称的に描きだされる少年チャプラの母である。「手塚作品がずっと好きでした」、そして「（映画では息子となるチャプラ役の）堺雅人さんとワクワクしがら演じられました」と映画に挑んだ様子を紹介した。
　その堺さんは、「壮大なスケールの作品の壮大なメンバーの中に参加し誇らしく思います。これからいろいろなことが始まる第一歩です」と。スッドダナ王役の観世清和さんは「能以外のジャンルでの出演は初めて、普段は稽古をつけるほうですが、今回は稽古をつけてもらいながら収録でした」と収録の様子を披露した。
　最後に森下監督が、本作は今年4月まで制作を続けており、実動制作だけでも6年かかっていることを紹介。そして、「『手塚治虫のブッダ』は、ブッダを中心とした人を描く、命を描くドラマ」と語った。重厚なドラマがみどころになりそうだ。

　完成披露試写会では、藤原道山さんによる尺八のライブも行われた。さらに主題歌「Scarlet Love Songs」を担当したX-JAPANのライブ映像も上映された。
　5月28日に全国公開に向けて大きな盛り上がりをみせた。

[LA Weekly] Yoshiki: The Kei Master

Not too many people in L.A., no matter how famous they are, can say there is a Hello Kitty doll patterned after their likeness.

Yoshiki can.

Yoshikitty, as the plush character is called, was a bit of an accident. As drummer and spokesman for the world-renowned Japanese rock band X Japan, Yoshiki was doing a press tour in Asia. Just to liven up the press conferences, he put an X Japan T-shirt on a Hello Kitty doll as a "half-joke," he says. Sanrio, the toy company, caught wind of the incident and a proper collaboration developed.

In Japan, Yoshiki is a major rock star, the leader of the band that's often credited with launching the dramatic hard-rock movement known as visual kei. Here, though, X Japan is still very much a cult phenomenon. And for the past decade, Yoshiki has been living in L.A., anonymously. "I can go to the grocery store without thinking that someone is going to recognize me," he says.

Like the Yoshikitty, the musician's move to L.A. was an accident. "All the X Japan members came here. We were recording," Yoshiki explains. "We were booking so many different studios, like, four or five different studios, to finish our second album for Sony Records."

They were looking for a single studio that would suit all of their needs. Yoshiki stumbled across one that, he says, is the best in the world for drums. He tried to book session time but couldn't. So he bought the place.

"After we finished the album, everybody went [back] to Japan. I was, like, what am I going to do with this studio?" Yoshiki recalls. "Since I had a recording studio, I came back and started recording more. Then, obviously, I'm here, maybe I should buy a house. So I bought a house."

In early 2010, after disbanding and then getting back together, the band made a concerted effort to launch in the United States, playing Lollapalooza before embarking on their first U.S. tour, which began in Yoshiki's adopted hometown. "I was so happy, finally, I could play here in Los Angeles," he says.

That show, at the Wiltern, garnered a monumental response from the crowd — but Yoshiki felt they could have done better. "On a tour, the set list gets better and better every time we play," he says. "So, when we got to New York, we were semiperfect, but in the beginning there were so many things to figure out. ... Next time we play [L.A.], it's going to be semiperfect."

X Japan currently are preparing their first U.S. studio album and a world tour, while Yoshiki is collaborating on a new project with comic book legend Stan Lee. "He's making me a superhero," Yoshiki says. "I'm going to turn into a dragon."

Combine this with several high-profile fashion projects and one has to wonder if Yoshiki will be able to remain anonymous at the grocery store in L.A. much longer. As it stands, Yoshiki says he has been getting recognized more often near his home base.

"I don't hate it," he says, but, "I always have to ask: 'How do you know me?' "

多くの方に楽しんでいただけるよう、丸の内TOEIより、声の出演キャストによる舞台挨拶の模様を全国14劇場に中継いたしました。14劇場には、東北地方三陸沖地震によって被災した宮城、福島の劇場も含まれての試写会開催となりました。

今回、この素晴らしい作品への主題歌のお話をいただき、とても嬉しく思っています。お声がけいただきまして、ありがとうございました。
監督の森下さんとは、以前から親しくさせていただいていた経緯もあり、お話をいただいた時点で「引き受けたい」と思っていましたが、原作を読ませていただき、この作品における音楽の重要性を確信し、決断しました。
また、制作途中の映画も拝見させていただきましたが、アニメーションがとても美しく、実に興味深い作品だったこともあり、自然と力が入りました。
僕は子供の時からアニメーションが大好きだったのですが、このような形でアニメに関わることができ、本当に嬉しい限りです。今回の主題歌『Scaret Love Song』は、X　JAPANの楽曲としては、久しぶりのバラード曲となっています。ぜひ、映画と一緒に楽しんで下さい。

FanimeCon 2011 Announces Japanese Rock Icon Yoshiki as a Guest of Honor

San Jose, CA (May 22, 2011) – FanimeCon 2011 announces surprise Guest of Honor, Yoshiki. The talented co-founder of X Japan will hold a panel and autograph session in the evening on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the San Jose Convention Center.

Yoshiki and vocalist Toshi formed X Japan (originally named X) in 1982. Since then, X Japan has sold more than 30-million albums, singles and videos, becoming the most successful rock band in Japanese history. The heart of X Japan, Yoshiki has written popular hits such as “I.V.” from Saw IV and “Forever Love” from the X/1999 movie. He also plays drums, piano, guitar, bass, and trumpet. Beyond X Japan, Yoshiki has produced some of Japan’s most influential bands, including Dir En Grey and Glay.

Yoshiki is also an entrepreneur and a true renaissance man. He has a line of jewelry, his own wine, and a line of kimonos. In July, 2010, Yoshiki launched the Yoshiki Foundation America, which has already helped organizations including The Grammy Foundation, Make-a-Wish, and St. Vincent Meals on Wheels. After the March 2011 earthquake in Japan, the foundation has partnered with the Japan America Society of Southern California and is focusing on disaster relief efforts.

We have previously reported that Matsushita Yuya and FLOW would be attending FanimeCon 2011, but music supporters have even more to cheer about now; YOSHIKI is also expected to make an appearance!

Proceeds from the sale of a crystal Kawai CR-40 piano belonging to Japanese rock star Yoshiki will be donated to Japan earthquake and tsunami relief. The auction began March 17, but was put on hiatus just two days later. "Yahoo! Auctions has determined an exception was necessary due to an overload of unexpected high volume traffic, high bidding prices and the time required for bidder confirmation procedures; and has temporarily suspended the bidding process on this auction," according to a notice posted on j-grab.com, the website coordinating the bidding. Bidding reached $20 million before the auction was put on hold, said Atsu Wada, j-grab.com spokesman. Insiders say there were concerns over the authenticity of the bids. The last confirmed bid Yahoo was able to verify was $512,231.70. That will be the new starting price when bidding reopens April 25. The auction now ends April 28. According to Yahoo Auctions, it has restructured its system and "bidders pledging over $609,756 must give prior I.D. confirmation." Yoshiki, who is spearheading the Japan Relief Fundraising Auction with help from Yahoo Japan, is the first of many celebrities donating items to the project. Other big names include Britney Spears, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson, Cher, Marilyn Manson, Anthony Kiedis and Stan Lee. "We are all so excited to finally come and play in Europe," said Yoshiki, X Japan's leader/drummer/pianist/songwriter. "Because we've never played Europe before, we didn't know how many fans we had there, so we're so excited to have this kind of support." In addition, X Japan has confirmed they will play a special guest slot at the two-day "Summer Sonic" festival set for August 13th in Osaka and August 14th in Tokyo. Although on its own, X Japan sells out Japanese venues twice the size of the "Summer Sonic," it is a big honor for the band to be part of this bill as the annual festival features the biggest and most-buzzed about international artists. This year's headliners also include the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Strokes, and X Japan will play immediately before the Chili Peppers! In Asia, X Japan - Toshi (vocals), Pata and Sugizo (guitars), Heath (bass), and Yoshiki (drums, piano) - plays arenas and stadiums, bringing elaborate production including lasers, catwalks, and holograms. For the UK/European and South American dates, X Japan will tailor its "stadium-sensibility theatrics" to the more intimate venues, focusing primarily on its "Queen-meets-Guns N' Roses-meets-The-Matrix" rock assault. That's why we love them - they are completely and totally audio visual. "We had a wonderful time last fall on our first North American tour, playing theaters, something we hadn't been able to do in Japan since the early days," Yoshiki explained. "We were able to make a strong connection with our audiences because they were right there, just feet away from the stage. I even crowd-surfed a few times! So, we're looking forward to the same sort of close-up-and-personal but intense experience on these dates." Yoshiki and X Japan's vocalist Toshi were in Paris last July, making a special appearance for more than 5,000 fans. The duo performed a handful of X Japan songs "unplugged," and had the entire audience singing the chorus to one of the band's most exquisite compositions, "Endless Rain." The members of X Japan have been writing and recording what will be their first album to be released outside of Japan with English lyrics. According to Yoshiki, about half of the album will feature some of the band's most popular songs from throughout their career, with nearly all of the lyrics re-recorded in English, and the other half, brand new songs written specially for this album. GIRLS COLLECTION producer Jay FR and X JAPAN's YOSHIKI had set out to show that there "was no fashion without music and no music without fashion". The ASIA GIRLS EXPLOSION started with the presentation of "kitgirl", which showed sexy transparent wear with wide-flowing gowns, matched with shorts and high-heels. All the creations where held in black and white and held a seductive but innocent touch. It was X JAPAN's HEATH who walked out last, dressed in an elegant coat, the many silver accessories shimmering brightly, surely portraying the image of "ROCK". After this opening presentation, the concept of the show was once again presented on the large screens, which had been set up around the stage. "ASIA - Anger Sorrow in Aquarium"; where the words that would lead throughout the concept, portraying Japan in the focus of fashion under the view of the creators of the show. Moreover, the show had been split in two parts, whereas the first part led through a history of fashion for men from the 40s to today - portrayed with the designs and concepts of recent designers in Japan. "Only fools can change the world" Uniforms and uniform styles, kaki-pants and suspenders dominated the first part of the show, as the curtains rose for the presentation of the 40s to 50s era of men. It was then that Marylyn Manson entered the stage and walked the cat-walk in a wide black suit and a long scarf, receiving cheers from the crowd. The 60s and 70s era was shown with workers wear, such as overalls, helmets, hippie-style and British shirts and vests. Japanese and non-Japanese models earned cheers alike as they strode along the cat walk. With the 80s and 90s era shown, over-sized suits, punk clothes and sneakers showed much of what is still perceived as sings of certain genres in music as well today. Studs and safety pins, along with leather and chains already proved that there was no fashion without music. The 2000 to 2010 fashion followed suit with expressive hip-hop and rave-styles in bright neo-colors and leopard print, while also showing anime prints. "Who will judge the truth? What is fake and what is real?" While the first part had shown men's styles in chronological order, the next part would start of with the most recent female trends and take a turn towards its origins in the past. "The 21st century will be the century of women. Women will recreate and bring rebirth." Japanese fashion, as it might be perceived by westerners especially, was shown with flowery dresses and Japanese gals' style. Strong make-up and a multitude of accessories, along with Lolita and Gothic Lolita fashion reflected what is often seen as Harajuku-kei fashion - typical for Japan. However, the 90s and 80s period went back to more western styles with techno-outfits a la "Marusha", with bright neo colors. Plaid skirts and neon-patterns represented the rock-era for girls and the "School-girl" style also left an impression, as it is sure still present these days. As an intermezzo to the fashion part, the two Australian DJs "Nervo" heated up the crowd, before it was eventually time for Violet U.K. to present a stunning performance. While YOSHIKI was playing the piano, the female vocalist presented her strong and alluring voice, with SUGIZO adding a different feeling to the strong atmosphere with his violin! Among the performance of Violet U.K. YOSHIKI's new fashion brand "YOSHIKIMONO" was presented, showing outrageously sexy designs on the models, incorporating Japanese designs with punk and rock styles. Glitter and accessories, platform boots, flower designs and net-stockings. Thereafter, the girls' fashion representing the 70s and 60s, showed cute, yet strict designs with cylinders and walking sticks, hippie-styles and short skirts. Yoshiki can. Yoshikitty, as the plush character is called, was a bit of an accident. As drummer and spokesman for the world-renowned Japanese rock band X Japan, Yoshiki was doing a press tour in Asia. Just to liven up the press conferences, he put an X Japan T-shirt on a Hello Kitty doll as a "half-joke," he says. Sanrio, the toy company, caught wind of the incident and a proper collaboration developed. In Japan, Yoshiki is a major rock star, the leader of the band that's often credited with launching the dramatic hard-rock movement known as visual kei. Here, though, X Japan is still very much a cult phenomenon. And for the past decade, Yoshiki has been living in L.A., anonymously. "I can go to the grocery store without thinking that someone is going to recognize me," he says. Like the Yoshikitty, the musician's move to L.A. was an accident. "All the X Japan members came here. We were recording," Yoshiki explains. "We were booking so many different studios, like, four or five different studios, to finish our second album for Sony Records." They were looking for a single studio that would suit all of their needs. Yoshiki stumbled across one that, he says, is the best in the world for drums. He tried to book session time but couldn't. So he bought the place. "After we finished the album, everybody went [back] to Japan. I was, like, what am I going to do with this studio?" Yoshiki recalls. "Since I had a recording studio, I came back and started recording more. Then, obviously, I'm here, maybe I should buy a house. So I bought a house." In early 2010, after disbanding and then getting back together, the band made a concerted effort to launch in the United States, playing Lollapalooza before embarking on their first U.S. tour, which began in Yoshiki's adopted hometown. "I was so happy, finally, I could play here in Los Angeles," he says. That show, at the Wiltern, garnered a monumental response from the crowd — but Yoshiki felt they could have done better. "On a tour, the set list gets better and better every time we play," he says. "So, when we got to New York, we were semiperfect, but in the beginning there were so many things to figure out. ... Next time we play [L.A.], it's going to be semiperfect." X Japan currently are preparing their first U.S. studio album and a world tour, while Yoshiki is collaborating on a new project with comic book legend Stan Lee. "He's making me a superhero," Yoshiki says. "I'm going to turn into a dragon." Combine this with several high-profile fashion projects and one has to wonder if Yoshiki will be able to remain anonymous at the grocery store in L.A. much longer. As it stands, Yoshiki says he has been getting recognized more often near his home base. "I don't hate it," he says, but, "I always have to ask: 'How do you know me?'
