By Christian Williams on inPlayStation 4 50 A photo has surfaced showing a demo PS4 console overheating and displaying what has been dubbed “the red line of death.” The picture was taken at a PS4 event in Spain and posted by Elotrolado member Homer J. Simpson in his report of the event. He says (translated from Spanish) “it had a red light (where the typical blue LED light) and had a message on the screen saying that the console had a very high temperature. The security case was opened and in two seconds the error message was removed and the light had returned to its normal color. “
There have been various reports of PS4 consoles crashing during recent demonstrations but hopefully these issues will be sorted out by the time the console reaches retail.
Indie publisher Ripstone Games has received an exciting delivery at its Liverpool-based office this week.
Co-founder and Creative Director of Ripstone, Phil Gaskell, has got his hands on a PlayStation 4 console ahead of its U.K. launch on November 29, 2013. As you can see he looks very excited, and we can’t really blame him.
Sony has already confirmed that the PS4 would be quieter than the PS3 due to fans being placed at a different angle and in a different position inside the console, but the proof is really in the testing. When asked: Does it sounds like a jet taking off?” Ripstone replied: “Not at all, it’s as quiet as a mouse & as powerful as a lion!”
Sadly, Phil doesn’t go into detail over what he believes makes his shiny new console so powerful, but we can’t wait to find out. Of course, efficient cooling fans isn’t one of the main PS4 features we’re looking forward to, but it’s good to hear that Sony has delivered on its promise of a more ventilated system.
If you want to find out more about Ripstone, check out the official site. Ripstone is the publisher behind some great indie games such as Big Sky Infinity and Knytt Underground.
Hard to believe we’re less than a month away from PS4’s launch on November 15th. Exciting! If you just can’t wait to get your hands on a system, I’ve got good news. Starting today, we’re rolling out PS4 demo kiosks to stores nationwide. The initial wave of PS4 demo units will appear in select Sony Stores, with thousands more added to various retail locations, such as GameStop, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart — among others in the coming weeks.
To find the PS4 demo kiosk nearest you, click this link. And remember, if you don’t see one nearby, just check back later to see if any have been added to stores in your hometown.
Once you find a kiosk, you’ll be able to sample upcoming PS4 games like Knack, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, FIFA 14, Contrast, Super Motherload, and Pinball Arcade. Keep an eye out for the kiosk at a store near you, and have fun playing!
Kicking yourself because PlayStation 4 pre-orders are all gobbled up in North America? Why not travel to beautiful Brazil where the platform is set to launch on November 29?
Quanto custa, or how much does it cost, you might wonder? With the current exchange rate, the R$3,999 PS4 in Brazil would only hit your wallet for just over the equivalent of $1,800 USD, according to the PlayStation Brazil Blog. Games are priced at R$179, or around $82 USD.
On second thought, perhaps you should hold off on that trip. Brazil's video game industry has been labeled "possibly the fastest growing games market in the world when it comes to total consumer spending," according to market research and consulting firm NewZoo. Though the console business continues to grow in Latin America, including in Argentina where the PlayStation 4 is expected to launch at around the equivalent of $1,100 USD, import taxes drastically inflate the price of hardware.
