We all know Microsoft won't comment in rumour and speculation but it looks like the publisher is readying a new Halo unveiling for E3 in a few weeks. But will it feature everyone's favourite Chief? Not so, a source tells CVG.

According to a rumour on Sarcastic Gamer, the fourth instalment is already in development: "A very good and anonymous source tells us that Halo 4 is already in full development over at Bungie." Unfortunately there was no further info available on the franchise's movements.

But we've done a little digging of our own and reckon a new Halo game could be revealed at this year's E3.

Whether or not it'll be the Peter Jackson project or the previously rumoured third-person prequel, remains to be seen. Believe us we've tried poking, threatening, starving and even tickling to find out more. But nothing...

At the end of May we revealed that, even though most of Microsoft's E3 line-up had been blown all over the internet, there were still two unknown announcements. "According to well placed sources close to Microsoft, the publisher has two more 'big' Xbox 360 games to be revealed for its 2008 line-up." We're now certain that a new Halo title is going to be one of them. Speculate below.

In other Halo news it's been revealed that the new Cold Storage multiplayer map for Halo 3 will be available FOR FREE from July 7 on Xbox Live Marketplace. Result!

Nippon Ichi Considers Wii
Company president wants to get new fans.

July 10, 2008 - Get set for evil strategy gaming, Wii owners! Disgaea maker Nippon Ichi may be making the move to the Nintendo platform soon.

Responding to questions from The Kabushiki Shimbun in Japan, Nippon Ichi CEO Kouichi Kitazumi said "We'll be looking into signing on with Wii in the future."

Earlier in the interview, Katazumi had admitted that his company had not given enough support to Nintendo game machines. "We wanted to sign on and get new fans," he said of Nintendo platforms in general.

Nippon Ichi recently released its first games for the DS in Japan.

The latest issue of NGamer reveals information from a secretive source about Animal Crossing Wii and a new installment of Punch-Out!!

Those who purchased last month's issue of NGamer will remember that the British publication teased at the revelation of a new project from Nintendo's internal development teams. We received the latest issue of NGamer this morning, and it offers up some very juicy information indeed. Here's a snippet from their feature about E3 2008...

"And if all goes to plan (and our sources haven't played a mean trick on us), that hands-on coverage will be of Animal Crossing and Punch-Out!! Wii, aka Nintendo's great hopes for 2008."

The article goes on to say that Animal Crossing Wii has been finished for a while, and though it isn't an MMO as suggested by rumours earlier this year, it features heavy use of Wi-Fi sharing (and presumably multiplayer, as in Wild World).

As for Punch-Out!! Wii, NGamer claim that Balance Board implementation is on the cards for dodging and weaving, in addition to Wii Remote and Nunchuk controlled punching (which goes without saying) in the style of Wii Sports Boxing and Rhythm Boxing, which was included as a minigame in Wii Fit.

Stick with N-Europe for E3 next week for quality news and coverage from Nintendo's highly anticipated conference.

New Marvel vs. Capcom Game on the Way?

July 25, 2008 - While this is in no way direct confirmation that a new Marvel vs. Capcom game is in the works, Kevin Feige, President of Production at Marvel Studios did give fans a ray of hope to cling to before an official announcement is made. When asked if a new Marvel vs. Capcom game is possible someday Feige said, "Yes. And maybe sooner than you think."

An interesting note: Capcom has a title in the works in Japan called Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes. Because of various licensing issues with Tatsunoko it's virtually impossible that the game will ever make it stateside. Keeping that in mind, the graphics engine and fighting mechanics are already in place which would make it very easy to import Marvel characters and push the game out the door in a relatively short amount of time.

Again, this doesn't confirm the existence of a new Marvel vs. Capcom title, but it's certainly something to hang on to until a meaningful announcement is made one way or the other. We'll have more on this as it develops.

Uncharted Trophies coming August 22

While listening to the Playstation Nation Podcast we heard that the Uncharted Trophies are coming on the 22nd of August which is just under a month away. Quite a while for those craving for them.

We contacted Naughty Dog earlier for confirmation and one of the representatives responded with:

“Yes, trophies will be released on August 22 if all goes to plan”

I’m sure it will go to plan, Naughty Dog are always on target. With Trophies on the way for Uncharted, i think i’m going to play through the game again just to get the Trophies and level up.

Prince of Persia Creator Jordan Mecher To Helm New Karateka Game

During a Q&A panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner revealed that he is working on a followup to Karateka, the first video game he developed.

Published in 1984 when Mechner was attending Yale University, Karateka featured impressive fluid animation that laid the groundwork for his influential 1989 game Prince of Persia.

"There actually is a plan to bring back Karateka," the designer said. "It's a project I'm going to be involved in. I can safely say it's not going to be in the way you expect."

Asked by Gamasutra whether the project is indeed a video game, Mechner confirmed that it is.

Responding to a separate question about the original Karateka, Mechner recounted how he and one of the game's other programmers pulled off one of gaming's stranger Easter eggs.

"The programmer doing copy protection for the game figured out that by messing with the bit table, the whole game could be played upside down, which is really hard to do," he explained. "We thought it would be hilarious if we burned the flipped version of the game to the other side of the disk.

"We figured of all the people who buy the game, a couple of them would accidentally put the floppy in upside down," he continued. "That way, when that person calls tech support, that tech support rep would once in blue moon have the sublime joy of saying, 'Well sir, you put the disk in upside down,' and that person would think for the rest of their life that's how software works."

As it turned out, brass at publisher Broderbund was receptive to the idea: "We went do the president of Broderbund to propose this, and we didn't think they'd go for it, because it would require an assembly line change to actually burn the game onto both sides of the disk, which adds however many cents. So we went in, and he said, 'Sure. Do it.'"

　　有内部人员透露本作将是《最终幻想7 重制版》，但是经可靠的消息证实，本作绝对不会是《最终幻想7 重制版》，因为这部《最终幻想7》属于外传作品，很可能像是电影版《最终幻想7 降临之子》那样的角色。
