《戰爭機器》電影暫定2010年夏季上映

2007年3月，華納兄弟旗下的新線影業公司宣佈獲得了Epic Games《戰爭機器》的電影改編權，當時指定Stuart Beattie(曾參與《加勒比海海盜》)負責改編劇本，由Temple Hill Entertainment娛樂公司負責影片製作。

如今一年多過去了，事情進展如何呢？影片製片人Wyck Godfrey在接受採訪時表示：「我們已經拿到了劇本，即將聯繫導演人選，希望能在明年初確定。電影將在2010年夏季上映。」

這比最早計劃的檔期晚了整整一年。

此外，《戰爭機器》遊戲首席設計師Cliff Bleszinski正在與Stuart Beattie合作，幫助確定電影的整體思路。

　　外界原本很早就猜測 Len Wiseman 將接下「戰爭機器」電影的導演工作，但報導指出，新線影業 (New Line Cinema) 與 Len Wiseman 的正式接觸是最近幾個月的事情；他將與「玩命關頭：東京甩尾」編劇的 Chris Morgan 共同發展電影的故事腳本，內容將根據由 Stuart Beattie 撰寫的原本電影故事，這個故事在撰寫時是由《戰爭機器》首席遊戲設計師 Cliff Bleszinski 從旁協助。

　　Len Wiseman 過去曾參與包括「酷斯拉」、「ID4 星際終結者」等電影，後來擔任「決戰異世界」系列電影的導演，去年作品為「終極警探4.0」。

　　《戰爭機器》當初是 2006 年 11 月推出 Xbox 360 版本，後來推出 PC 版本，至今遊戲美國銷售量超過 300 萬套，Xbox 360 新一代《戰爭機器 2》預定今年 11 月上市。

Len Wiseman, the chap behind vampire flick Underworld and Die Hard 4, is preparing to direct a movie based on Gears of War.

The director will be teaming up with writer Chris Morgan to develop the story and rewrite a new screenplay, according to Variety.

A previous script by Stuart Beattie, the original writer of the first Pirates of the Caribbean, will be discarded.

Fortunately, Epic will have some involvement. In fact, Cliffy B himself is the executive producer on the movie and will consult on its development for the company.

Distributor New Line had originally aimed to get the picture out in cinema's for summer 2009, but these recent developments mean a further delay is likely.

"It's like with our games, you can have it right or have it right now," said Epic Games topper Mark Rein. "We want to get it right. There's no timetable for us.

"We just want to make as good a movie as we can, and we think (Wiseman's) the guy who will do it."

Gears of War film producer, Wyck Godfrey, has told Making Of that he would like to tell the story of Emergence Day instead of just creating a movie full of battle, bullets, and macho muscle men.

“We went to the guys that created the game and just sort of made our pitch about how we’re going to put it together,” he said. “Right now we’re working with Len Wiseman on it at Legendary and New Line.

“The hard part is to make it into something that doesn’t feel like a world torn asunder and people just in battle. You gotta figure out — I think we really want to focus on the idea of a world that’s running well and then its Emergence Day.

“Kind of make it impactful and immediate and the survival of those 48 hours, as people survive Emergence Day – more like Cloverfield or something like that.”

《戰爭機器》改編電影新情報 重塑災難的世界

《戰爭機器》這部XBOX360平台的大作終於要出現在電影螢幕上了，歷來的經驗告訴我們遊戲改編電影成功幾率很小，所以《戰爭機器》的製片人Wyck Godfrey也極為小心，在整個電影世界觀的設定上花費了很大的心思。

這次的《戰爭機器》並不是著重講述英雄的戰鬥故事，而是揭露原先和平的世界是如何遭受獸人入侵的。Wyck Godfrey說：「比較棘手的問題是在戰鬥的時候如何能避免讓世界變得支離破碎。我認為我們要著重於塑造一個正常的世界，然後就是E-Day。我們要描繪在充滿破壞力的E-Day的48小時，人們是如何逃生的。就像《科洛弗檔案》裡的一樣。試圖描繪一個環境險惡的外星星球是一件很麻煩的事情。」

《戰爭機器》電影預計於2010年夏天與廣大觀眾見面，希望到時我們能看到一部成功的精品。
