　彼の父親で代理人でもあるジジーニョ氏は、メキシコ紙『レコルド』紙に移籍の経緯をこう説明した。

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of Giovani dos Santos to the Club, subject to a medical and agreeing personal terms.

The 19-year-old Mexico international made 28 senior appearances for the Catalan club last season, scoring three goals, after displaying his credentials in the B team, where he made 27 appearances and netted five times.

West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand is on the verge of completing a ₤6million move to Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports…
Ferdinand, the younger brother of Manchester United star Rio, has long been on Spurs’ radar, and News of the World claims the 23-year-old is finally going to make the switch across London during the summer.

Former Lilywhites boss Martin Jol made a ₤4million bid for the England under-21 international two years ago, but the Dutchman’s then-Hammers counterpart Alan Pardew rejected the offer.

But with plenty of options in central defence and wage bill in need of trimming, current Irons manager Alan Curbishley is willing to let Ferdinand leave.

Spurs boss Juande Ramos has been keen on Manchester City stopper Richard Dunne, but the Irishman looks likely to snub the former Sevilla coach in favour of Portsmouth.

Spurs Target Coupet And Hart
According to some media reports, Tottenham Hotspur's search for a new goalkeeper for next season has narrowed to two targets.

As Spurs manager Juande Ramos seeks to resolve his current goalkeeping issue - namely, find a replacement for out-of-favour Paul Robinson - his sights have settled on two possibilities, according to media speculation, and he wants them both.

One is the experienced Gregory Coupet of Lyon, currently on duty with France at Euro 2008 and peparing to face world champions Italy tonight in the decisive 'group of death' clash.

The other is Manchester City’s highly-rated young keeper Joe Hart, recently called up by England coach Fabio Capello to the national squad.

Both are apparenly regarded by Ramos as potentially ideal successors to Robinson.

The Spnish coach is said to be keen to bring in both an experienced and an up-and-coming young goalkeeper, and Coupet and Hart fit the bill.

Coupet has made more than 500 appearances for Lyon and, at 35, can perhaps look forward to a couple more seasons at the top, enablin Spurs to nurture Hart as his successor.

The theory seems to be that by bringing both into the club at the same time, Hart will get the benefit of understudying and learning from a top international keeper.

Lyon have apparently accepted that Coupet will move on, and the keeper has publicly stated that he wants to play in the English Premier League before he finally retires. London is thought to be his preferred location so a move to Tottenham could appeal.

Hart is also seen as a prime target for Tottenham, but the speculation becomes a little stretched at this point. Mark Hughes, recently installed as City manager, is unlikely to sanction the departure of such a talent and, if the player's wages are an issues, would probably move to improve Hart's contract.

Hart himself may see little point in moving from City, where he is currently number one, to White Hart Lane, where he would be number two, at least initially, and he may not regard Tottenham as a signifiantly or potentially bigger club than the one he is currently at.

So the Coupet deal may well be on the cards, but the transfer of Hart seems less likely at this stage.

Fiorentina have categorically denied that they have agreed to sell Mario Santana to Tottenham.

English tabloid The Sun claimed that the Serie A side had accepted an offer from Tottenham for the Argentine winger, and even went as far as printing a quote by Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino allegedly confirming this.

Viola vice president Mario Cognigni has been quick to rubbish the reports, however.

"The news about the possible transfer of Santana is completely false," he insisted.

"We have created so many good players that it is inevitable we are handed requests about them.

"But in this case there has been false information. I guarantee you that as a club we don't have in mind any talk of transfer.

"Apart from the fact that Corvino doesn't speak English, as far as we know he didn't talk about the transfer of Santana because he works for us and we meet almost every day."

Tottenham win race for Mpoku

Tottenham have won the race to sign Belgian starlet Paul-Jose Mpoku.

The 16-year-old striker spent time on trial at White Hart Lane last season, but he was also being tracked by a host of clubs including Manchester United.

However, Spurs have now sealed a deal with Mpoku's current club Standard Liege.

Mpoku is reported to have agreed a four-year deal and will link up with the North London club for pre-season training.

"Paul-Jose will play for Spurs' Under-17 team and live with a host family," a Liege spokesman told the Sunday Mirror.
