Rockstar今天正式公佈了旗下街頭競速類遊戲的第四部作品《午夜俱樂部:洛杉磯(Midnight Club: Los Angeles)》,同時這也是該系列中首款登陸次世代主機的作品。據悉,本作將對應X360和PS3平台,預計於2008年年初發售,遊戲由Rockstar聖地亞哥工作室負責開發。

和以往一樣,Rockstar並沒有透露有關這款新作的太多詳細情報,但官方確認本作將同時對應單機和在線聯機遊戲。Rockstar公司總裁兼首席遊戲設計師Sam Houser對記者表示:「遊戲的單機模式和在線模式都將重新定義什麼才是讓人沉迷的賽車遊戲。」

Rockstar官方還確認,本作將會是一個開放式的賽車遊戲,其中包括地下的街頭賽車比賽和賽車改裝。遊戲還將會包括自由度相當高的自定義選項。從遊戲名可以看出,本次可能會著重表現一座大都市細緻的多條賽道,而不是像之前那樣同時出現幾座城市。

本作製作人Jay Pane則對媒體表示,Rockstar想通過《午夜俱樂部:洛杉磯》俱樂部的推出來進一步拓展該系列的影響力。「我們的目標就是容納盡可能多的關卡,並且保持系列的核心遊戲體驗,同時吸引所有可能的玩家和汽車的狂熱愛好者。」

UK, May 16, 2007 - Rockstar has revealed it's set to bring the fourth game in its Midnight Club series, titled Midnight Club: Los Angeles, to PS3 and Xbox 360 in early 2008.

Developed by Midnight Club stalwarts Rockstar San Diego, the new title promises to deliver an "addictive blend of freedom, style and sheer sense of speed sets it apart from its competition", according to Rockstar's founder and executive producer Sam Houser.

What's more, Rockstar hopes to evolve its street racing franchise "on all possible levels and stay true to the hardcore gaming experience the series is known for, while making it accessible to casual gamers and car enthusiasts". So says Jay Panek, producer of the Midnight Club series, at least.

"With Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Rockstar San Diego looks to once again push the boundaries and expectations of what a racing game can be," noted Houser. "Rockstar San Diego has always been the technology leader in delivering the ultimate racing experience and with this game they are looking to re-define the idea of a completely immersive racing game experience, both offline and online."

Midnight Club: Los Angeles is stuck in the garage for another month. Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar San Diego's anticipated Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 street racer has been pushed back again, this time to early October. Rockstar London's spin-off for the PSP, Midnight Club: LA Remix, has also slipped a month.

Originally set to launch earlier this year, the game was delayed in March and later given a September 9 release date. Take-Two explained that the postponed launch was "to leverage the retail strength leading to the key holiday-selling season, and in order to provide some distance from the release of Grand Theft Auto IV." No reason was given for today's delay.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles features an open world planned to be nearly three times the size of Midnight Club: Dub Edition and full of actual LA landmarks. Keeping faithful to the series, it will also sport customizable licensed cars and tuner parts including rims, tires, and spoilers.

All three editions of Midnight Club are now expected to arrive in North American stores on October 7, with European launches set for October 10.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles is having false starts like a student driver trying to master the subtle art of the manual transmission. After being initially announced for a release early this year, the game was pushed to September 9, then again to October 7. Now the Rockstar street racer is being held back once again, as Take-Two today revealed another push for the game in its quarterly earnings report.

If there's any consolation for fans awaiting the game, it's that the delays are becoming sequentially shorter. This latest push is only two weeks, with Midnight Club: Los Angeles and the PlayStation Portable offshoot Midnight Club: LA Remix set for a North American release October 21. Europeans will be able to get behind the wheel October 24.

In an investor conference call, Take-Two chief financial officer Lainie Goldstein said the game was moved back to "a more favorable market window." While Goldstein didn't identify any specific market conditions, online retailers including GameStop and Amazon.com are currently expecting Sony's PlayStation 3 racer MotorStorm: Pacific Rift to arrive October 7.

  《灣岸 4:洛杉磯》由千萬級次世代強作《俠盜獵車手 4》製作團隊 Rockstar Games 開發,並採用與《俠盜獵車手 4》相同的 3D 引擎「RAGE」製作,充分發揮次世代平台硬體效能,展現細緻美麗且豐富多變的都會景觀。

◆ 橫行於廣大多變的洛杉磯街頭

  《灣岸 4》的城鎮建構在洛杉磯市區,藉由次世代平台大幅強化的硬體,城鎮的規模變的更大,更有在街頭爆衝的快感。遊戲中將完整呈現城鎮的規模,玩家可以在遊戲裡看到包含遊民區在內的洛杉磯各個地區。不過一開始時並不是每個地區都可以進入,玩家必須通過關卡或是和其它賽車手挑戰後,才可以得到進入該地區的權限。

  隨著玩家進度的推進,可以飆車的城鎮將會越大,挑戰的人也會越來越多。

◆ 挑戰車手考驗自我實力 賺取獎金強化車輛性能

  《灣岸 4》採用比賽賺錢的概念,玩家一開始的車輛只有基本的配備,必須和其它車手飆車,使用獲勝後所得到的獎金來購買更好的賽車裝備,以利後期和其它地區車手比賽。每一個地區專屬的車手都不同,為了擊敗熟悉自家地盤路線的地區車手,因此玩家通常要先探路。能賽車的地方不只侷限在都市裡,同時也擴大到城外。遊戲內增加了許多山道和快速道路的飆車地區,賽車以外的閒暇時間也可以開車四處閒逛欣賞風景。

◆ 真實時間流逝與天氣變化所帶來的多變環境

  《灣岸 4》最大的特色就是遊戲內的時間變化!遊戲中將不再侷限於既定的時間,玩家在洛杉磯的都市當中,將可以觀察到隨著時間變化而改變的景觀與路況。當玩家在早上出門時,如果剛好碰到上班時間,就會發現路上根本就是無法飆車的情況,更嚴重還會大塞車,一過上班時間路況就會變得非常順暢。其它像是假日時段,也會出現大量車潮,

  另外《灣岸 4》也加入了氣候的天氣變化,遊戲內配合上日夜的交替,每次都會有不同的天氣效果。有時會下起豪大雨,有時會起大霧,對賽車時的視線將會有所影響
