Spurs striker target remains coy on future

Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero continues to remain coy over his future after the end of the season, amid reported interest from Tottenham.

The 37-year-old Italian has stated he wants to continue playing beyond next summer, despite the fact it has already been announced he will not be offered a new deal with the Bianconeri.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is a known admirer of Del Piero, and could make a move to bring him to White Hart Lane at the end of the current campaign.

But for now, the striker insists he is fully focused on giving his all for the Old Lady, when he spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It's such a beautiful time with Juve leading Serie A that I don't see why I should think about my future right now.

"My future is on Saturday, I don't want to think about what will happen after June."

Harry Redknapp reports that both Rafa van der Vaart and Jermain Defoe are doubtful for Saturday's trip to West Brom.

Rafa is struggling with a hamstring injury while Jermain has a tight groin.

"Rafa has had a hamstring problem on and off this season," said Harry. "He got it playing for Holland but pulled through again to play on Monday against Villa but felt it and came off again.

"He was sore with it yesterday (Thursday) and he's struggling.

"Jermain also has a groin problem and he had to come off training yesterday.

"That leaves us with Pav and Adebayor. Pav's had a back problem but trained yesterday and looks fine."

Niko Kranjcar (thigh), Danny Rose (ankle), Michael Dawson (Achilles) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) remain sidelined.

Harry said that Jermain has been unlucky not to feature more in the Premier League of late.

"Jermain's a fantastic player," added the manager. "We had a reserve game in midweek against Charlton, he scored five goals and they were all incredible finishes.

"He's just been unlucky. I've said all along, Emmanuel Adebayor came in and has been great up front and I've Jermain or Rafa to play with him.

"Jermain was in good form at the time but Rafa has been in fantastic form, his goalscoring has been top-class.

"Jermain has been unlucky and so have a few of the other lads, but the team is playing well and I can't change it."

He slotted the ball home and mass confusion took over, with nobody really knowing if the goal stood or not. It doesn't but I'm not sure why. Costin Lazar, the player who cleared the ball off the line, stayed down injured and it's possible the goal was disallowed for a foul on him but no free-kick was awarded when the incident took place. Bizarre to say the least.

Rafa van der Vaart is back in the frame for Saturday's Premier League clash against Bolton.

The striker missed last week's 3-1 win at West Brom after picking up a hamstring problem against Villa on November 21.

Harry Redknapp reports that Sandro is also a doubt with a groin injury.

"Rafa trained yesterday (Thursday) and he looked fine," said Harry before training on Friday morning.

"We're not looking too bad. Sandro has a bit of a problem with his groin, we can't seem to get him a run of games at the moment, he keeps getting niggles. He's the only other player struggling short-term."

Harry admitted it was a selection dilemma between Rafa and Jermain Defoe, who scored the key second goal at The Hawthorns.

He added: "Rafa's available, but Jermain's in good form and scored a great goal at West Brom last week.

"I'm very lucky, they are both outstanding players and it's a tough call between those two. To be honest, neither deserves to be left out."

Harry, Scott win Barclays awards

Harry Redknapp and Scott Parker have completed a Spurs double in the Barclays Premier League monthly awards for November.

Harry has picked up the Barclays Manager of the Month and Scott the Player of the Month after the team won three matches out of three in the Barclays Premier League against Fulham, Villa and West Brom.

We’ve now won five-successive matches in the league and stretched our current run to nine wins and a draw in our last 10, lifting us up to third in the table.

November’s accolade represents the second time this season Harry has taken the Barclays Manager of the Month award after taking the trophy in September.

"It's been a real team effort," said Harry. "The players have done the business on the pitch, they've been fantastic.

"My coaches have also been superb and it's a team effort, I'm just part of that team.

"We've had tough away games at Fulham and West Brom, never easy places to go and to pick up maximum points from those games was important."

Scott, meanwhile, has yet to taste defeat as a Spurs player – starting all of those last 10 matches since his arrival on transfer deadline day in August.

Such has been the impact of the midfielder that he’s also taken both September and October’s Player of the Month awards as voted for by fans on Spurs Xtra, Twitter and Facebook.

"I’m delighted," said Scott. "It’s a highly-regarded award. I’m really pleased to be selected and things have gone well over the last few months, long may it continue.

"It's great the manager has won as well. We've been on a great run of late, we've a difficult game now against Bolton on Saturday and let's hope we can keep it going."
