Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards 2016 are about to begin at the time of writing. Before the highly anticipated event at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California Keighley was interviewed by Glixel.
While the whole article is well worth a read, Keighley also revealed a particularly nasty aspect of Kojima’s last months within Konami we weren’t aware of.
I haven’t talked much about that, but it was such a difficult time because he [Kojima] was going through a lot last year. The fact that he finished that game under those circumstances is just amazing. He was locked in a separate room on a different floor than his development team for the final six months of development. He couldn’t even talk to them – he had to talk through someone else. That’s how that game was finished.
Part of what kept me going this year was a belief that we had to be back on the same stage to give him his due and give him the award that he was robbed of last year.
This is particularly interesting because Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was universally praised with the exception of the game’s Chapter 2, which felt rushed and incomplete. Perhaps Kojima’s forced separation from his development team negatively influenced that specific portion of the game.
Regardless, the game designer has now moved on and is working on Death Stranding. We just got a swirl of new rumors on the game such as that it will use one of Sony’s internal engines. After receiving the Industry Icon award at Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards 2016, Kojima will be at Anaheim for PlayStation Experience 2016.
We’ve come to expect the unexpected from legendary game developer Hideo Kojima, but the Death Stranding producer may have outdone himself with what can only be described as a genius easter egg in promotional material for his studio’s upcoming PS4 exclusive.
Kojima himself admitted that the latest Death Stranding trailer, unveiled earlier this week at The Game Awards 2016, was full of hidden hints, clues and deliberate “misleads”. Having tried to make sense of the five-minute teaser over the past several days, there’s one hidden tidbit that we certainly missed – and you most likely will have, too.
By pairing up the TGA teaser with the game’s official E3 reveal trailer, users have spotted that one sequence syncs up almost perfectly; the creepy baby seen in both videos can be seen to transport from the arms of Norman Reedus’s character in the first trailer into the incubator-like device held by Guillermo del Toro’s character in the second (start first video at 85 seconds; second at 112).
Emma Stone in Norman Reedus’ Death Stranding (Leaked Image)
Emma Stone may be playing a character in Norman Reedus’ upcoming Hideo Kojima project Death Stranding. An image has leaked that very much looks like Stone.
According to a topic by user ‘opricnik’ in leading game industry forum NeoGAF, an image of Emma Stone’s likeness in the the upcoming Death Stranding videogame for Playstation 4 has been leaked. Rumored to have been captured from an E3 video presentation of the title. Now it could be a simple photoshop. However, the grainy nature and half face caught looks like a timely snap was taken in haste on a mobile camera before anyone saw anything. Emma Stone being featured in Death Stranding would not come as too much of a surprise, as the rumor has been gaining traction even before this image leaked.
