Critically acclaimed Japanese action-RPG from Yoko Tara and PlatinumGames has surpassed 500,000 copies sold on Steam.
According to
SteamSpy,
NieR: Automata on PC via Steam has 511,885 owners, with 114,480 players playing just in the last two weeks. Other SteamSpy stats reveal that yesterday the peak concurrent players was 2,181, and that over 50 new YouTube videos were uploaded for the game, showing a decently healthy post-launch heartbeat.
For those that don’t know:
NieR: Automata is a PlatinumGames (who you may recognize from the
Bayonetta series or
Vanquish) developed and Square Enix published game that hit PS4 in Japan on February 2017, before hitting the same console in the West in early March. It then arrived on PC on March 17th, which means that it only took the game a little over four months to hit the above-mentioned 500,ooo copies on Steam.
We know that as of May 29th, the game
had shipped (not sold) 1.5 million copies worldwide, which very well could now be almost 2 million, if not more than 2 million.
NieR: Automata, the sequel to 2010’s
NieR (a spinoff of the Drakengard series) is available on PC and PS4.
In other news, recently, PlatinumGames
reveled its desire to make another game in the series if the same type of dream team could be re-assembled.
