Tekken 7 won’t sport cross platform play on PC due to first-party concerns and community perception of PC gamers

As technology marches on, so gamers are becoming less willing to accept artificial barriers propped up by platform holders and publishers alike stopping them play together. The gauntlet was effectively laid down earlier this year when Microsoft opened up Xbox to cross-plarform play with PlayStation, with PC play already a possibility.


There’s hardly been a rush of games looking to bring cross platform play to PS4, Xbox One and PC, however, and Tekken 7 won’t be making any moves in that direction either.

Speaking in response to a query from a gamer on Twitter, Tekken’s chief producer and director Katsuhiro Harada claimed their are a number of issues blocking cross play between console and PC - one of them being the “reputation” PC gamers have for cheating.


“It's not a matter of the technology for getting the PS4/Xbox One/PC players to match up against each other being the issue, but rather first party company policies and potential security risks,” opened Harada in the tweet, translated by the good folks over at NeoGAF.


“[That’s] alongside the community perceived reputation of PC gamers being cheaters that is hindering the decision to allow cross platform play.”
