Latics agree £3.5m fee
Wigan have agreed a fee of £3.5million for Chris Kirkland and a deal for the Liverpool stopper will be completed on January 1.
Kirkland has impressed since arriving on loan just before the transfer deadline and boss Paul Jewell's plan has always been to wrap up a permanent deal for the England international.
Latics have been locked in talks with Anfield officials for the last few weeks and a deal is virtually in place. The two clubs have managed to agree a fee and with terms of the move now in place, the switch will be completed as soon as the transfer window re-opens in January.
Kirkland has fallen well down the pecking order at Anfield and with the Reds keen to raise transfer funds of their own, Rafael Benitez is happy to let the custodian move on.
