Wenger bemoans finishing

Arsene Wenger was again left to bemoan missed chances as Arsenal drew at Portsmouth.
The Gunners missed out on the chance to finish third after being held to a frustrating goalless draw at Fratton Park.
Arsenal were somewhat lucky to avoid losing after Portsmouth had a goal from Niko Kranjcar Controversially disallowed for offside.
Referee Graham Poll ruled that Kranjcar's 68th-minute goal was offside even though Richard Hughes' shot came off Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos before the Croat tucked it home.
Wenger was unsure if the goal was offside, but he was more concerned with his side's lack of killer instinct in front of goal.
"It was difficult to tell what happened with the offside goal," said Wenger. "I haven't seen the replay but we should have finished the game off before that. It is the story of our season.
"We looked good technically and sharp for much of the game but lacked something in the final third."
Julio Baptista missed Arsenal's best chance when he saw his 40th minute penalty saved by David James and Wenger admits he has still to decide if he will be keeping Brazilian Baptista at the club.
"That (Baptista's future) has not yet been decided," added Wenger.
"He usually takes penalties and is not scared to take them. Overall we had a very young side out today and there was nobody else with enough experience to take it.
"Cesc Fabregas was next in line to take it but did not want to. I think James made a good save but we had many other chances."

Richards reveals Gunners dream

Micah Richards can see no reason to leave Manchester City at the moment, but admits it would be a 'dream move' to one day join Arsenal.
The teenage full-back has been linked with a move to one of the Premiership's top four sides and concedes he would like to play in the UEFA Champions League.
But he is contracted to City until 2010 and is looking to repay Stuart Pearce's faith in him.
Richards also feels he can fulfil a lot of his ambitions at The City of Manchester Stadium, having already broken into the England squad.
"Obviously I'd like to play Champions League football, but time is on my side," he told the News of the World.
"I have three years left on my contract and I feel a commitment to the manager and fans.
"I like working for Stuart Pearce. He gave me my chance. I can learn a lot from him.
"I am ambitious and I'm flattered to be linked with the big clubs, but I got into the England squad playing for City, so there's no reason why I need to move at the moment."
Richards is likely to be spoiled for choice should he ever decide to move on, and he has revealed that Arsenal could be his preferred destination.
He said: "Arsenal are my team and it would be a dream move.
"I grew up supporting The Gunners."

Wenger targets improvement

Arsene Wenger says he is determined Arsenal will be in title contention next season.
The Gunners ended a disappointing Premiership campaign in fourth place for the second year running.
But the Arsenal boss admits that is not good enough and believes his side will be a different proposition next season should Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott all come into August in peak condition.
"I am looking [for new players], but I am also at the moment happy with the players I have and am also focused on developing the team I have. I feel the team is growing well," said Wenger.
"The biggest transfer I can make is to try to get everybody fit by the start of next season.
"If I manage that I have done 80 per cent of the job and I will be pleased, the other 20 per cent is optional - whether I buy or not.
"If I can just manage to do that 80 per cent, to get everybody in perfect shape for the start of the season, then I have done a good job."
Meanwhile, Julio Baptista's future could be decided at the end of the week.
Arsenal took the Brazilian on a season-long loan from Real Madrid last summer, with Jose Antonio Reyes going in the opposite direction.
Reyes is keen to stay with the Spanish runners-up and Wenger has already hinted he would like to keep Baptista.

Hleb full of praise for Wenger

Alexander Hleb has hailed Arsene Wenger as "a coach sent by God" after spending two seasons under the French tactician.
The Arsenal midfielder has been a regular feature during his first two years in North London, making more than 80 appearances for The Gunners.
Hleb took time to settle at Arsenal but believes his best is now on show with Wenger having kept faith with the Belarus international.
"Wenger is a great tactician, he sees absolutely everything," he told World Soccer magazine. "He knows how to find a key to every player - he is a coach sent by God.
"I still remember him saying: 'Alexander, I do not just buy any player; I watched you for two years. Everyone finds it hard at first, especially if you come from another country. I am convinced everything will work out.' Those words helped me a lot.
"I am loving being able to work under him. He supported me through the difficult times early on and carried on believing in me."
Arsenal's lack of success this season has been put down to their failure to finish chances, a problem Hleb admits he suffers from too.
However, the former Stuttgart star has vowed to work on his finishing to improve on his tally of three goals next term.
"It is a problem for me, and it was the same at Stuttgart," Hleb said.
"Often I get into shooting positions and then hear a team-mate calling for me to pass, maybe I need to be a bit more egotistical at times.
"It is something I have been working on. In training, the manager often gets me doing special exercise in which I am forced to finish the attack with a shot on goal.
"I think next season will be better."
Hleb also expects Arsenal to be much improved next season, as he added: "We are a very young team, but I would not say we are a team for the future - we are a team for now.
"We have got everything it takes to succeed."

Djourou confident for future

Johan Djourou is confident Arsenal's young guns can make a leap in quality and fight on all fronts next season.
Arsene Wenger has now presided over two trophyless seasons in succession as he looks to build a new team in North London, and a club that became accustomed to regular silverware in his first eight years in charge are now suffering something of a drought.
Summer signing William Gallas has put the club's recent failings down to an over-reliance on their young players, but Djourou - who at the age of 20 made 21 Premiership appearances this season - believes the less experienced stars at Emirates Stadium are ready to signal their growing maturity next term.
"We have guys like Cesc [Fabregas], Denilson and Justin Hoyte, who have all shown when they have played that they are ready for it," said Djourou.
"Next season is going to be a really good season because we have the quality for it.
"We have had a couple of injuries, with Thierry (Henry) and William Gallas, which was a bit of a blow for us - but now if everyone is back, we will have a chance for everything.
"It is also up to the others to show what they can do to replace those players, and I think we can take that step for next season and try to do it."
Djourou impressed in the first half of the season when injury robbed The Gunners of a number of defenders, and the Swiss international admits he was pleased with his input this term.
"I am very proud of my season. I am only 20 and I have played a lot of games in the Premiership," he said.
"That is all good for my experience and I hope I can keep going now, to play even more."
Gunners reward Bendtner

Arsenal have handed a new five-year deal to Danish starlet Nicklas Bendtner, according to reports in his homeland.
The teenage striker has returned to North London after spending a highly successful season on loan at Birmingham, and his reward for his progress is a new contract with The Gunners.
Bendtner played a key role in Blues' promotion - scoring 17 goals in the Championship - and Wenger has confirmed that the striker will form part of his first team plans for next season.
"Nicklas can now relax and concentrate on his play and development," Bendtner's father and agent Thomas told TV2. " The future will be with Arsenal.
"They have clearly indicated that they consider Nicklas as a first team player and that he will not be loaned out again.
"There have been many clubs who have been interested, but Arsenal is the right choice."
Bendtner has also earned international honours this season and will now be looking to dislodge Emmanuel Adebayor or Robin van Persie for a place alongside club captain Thierry Henry next season.
Of the three Gunners youngsters that moved to St Andrews at the start of the season, Bendtner is the only one to return to Arsenal after Birmingham tied up permanent deals for Sebastian Larsson and Fabrice Muamba.

19/5/2007 球季是失敗獲益卻良多

在季初，我對阿仙奴的期望就只是取得來季歐冠杯的入場券，如今目標已達，至於來季，期望會否有所提高？這要視乎雲加在今夏收購甚麼類型的球員，但如果只以現時的人腳角逐英超聯錦標，我敢說最快也要等至 08/09 的球季。
阿仙奴今季在三十八場聯賽中有超過半數的二十場是先失球，這項數據說明阿仙奴並不是一支爭標份子。
今季賽事中阿仙奴最為球迷所詬病的，是球員不懂把機會轉化成入球。但翻看紀錄，擁有杜奧巴及舒夫真高的車路士在三十八場聯賽射入六十四球，比起我們在亨利及雲佩斯缺陣半季的情況下仍射入的六十三球只多一球，但問題是球迷在談論杜奧巴出色的同時卻批評阿仙奴的把握能力，這話又從何說起？
開季前，我與朋友打賭十元說舒夫真高及迪維斯也沒有機會在聯賽中射入十球，四個月後球季還未及一半，朋友已乖乖的奉上金錢，並問為何我會判定舒夫真高連起碼的十球也進不了。我說道理很簡單，無論你是一個如何超級無敵例不虛發的前鋒殺手，你也需要一條懂得輸送的中場球員配合，車路士的問題，在於中場球員沒有一個懂得將皮球穿越對方防線給需要空間的舒夫真高，而善於迎接高球及硬闖的杜奧巴卻憑健碩身型及把握能力遮掩了車路士中場創造力不足的事實，但車路士中場的平庸卻把舒夫真高的射手本色埋沒了。
阿仙奴的情況剛好來個相反，費比加斯、希比及路斯基等皆有能力作出致命的傳送，正因為如此，就突顯了前鋒的不濟。巴迪斯達在西班牙曾經呼風喚雨，但當年失意於英超的簡奴迪及科蘭也可「鹹魚翻生」，你就知道西甲和英超是兩種風格截然不同的聯賽。另一前鋒艾迪巴約在亨利及雲佩斯在陣時還可掩人耳目，獨攬大旗時便無法遮掩其腳法平庸的事實。
所謂未能把握機會，先決條件是首先要製造出機會，才能將機會浪費，阿仙奴球員可以一次又一次製造機會，然後再把機會一次又一次浪費，看得人咬牙切齒。車路士和阿仙奴不同之處，在於前者在一場賽事中不能屢次製造出看似易於取得入球的良機，舒夫真高的名聲賠上了，但杜奧巴的努力及將絕無僅有的機會或不像是機會的機會都轉化成入球。相反，阿仙奴可以一次又一次製造門前單對單的機會，雙方各自在比賽中攻入一球，但阿仙奴所浪費的機會就比車路士多很多。
在季初，我批評得最嚴厲的是既然新球場更寬闊，為何球隊在組織進攻上仍然過份集中於中路？樂觀一點看，下半季的攻門威脅確實比上半季更直接，除了中路外，兩邊的側擊亦來得更徹底，但亦因如此，就顯得艾迪巴約及巴迪斯達無論在高球或短傳入滲上，都未能成為一個可靠的機會主義者。
那麼今季的防守又如何？坦白說，阿仙奴今季的防守是令人失望的，但如果我們看過球員的出場紀錄，伊保爾及賀迪分別上陣三十七及三十六場，中堅托尼、加拿斯、辛達路斯及迪左奴合共上陣一百三十七次，還未計算施華客串的場次在內，看到的是，除了季末那幾場賽事外，基本上阿仙奴今季的後防線是星期美點，日日新鮮。加上基治今季才正式復出上陣，加拿斯的新加盟，伊保爾和賀迪上陣次數只差一場，阿仙奴的後防線基本上是沒有默契可言。

Arsenal ace Emmanuel Adebayor hopes Arsene Wenger and Thierry Henry stay at the club.
The futures of the key duo have been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks with reports suggesting they could leave Emirates Stadium in the summer.
It has been claimed Wenger could decide to move on following the departure of close friend David Dein last month.
Henry's future at Arsenal has also been questioned with Barcelona being continually linked with the Frenchman.
However, Adebayor is keen for the pair to stay at Arsenal next season.
When asked if Wenger would be staying at Arsenal, Adebayor told Sky Sports News: "I don't know yet, I think they are going to sort out all the problems.
"I hope the boss stays, he is the man for Arsenal, the key.
"I hope he stays and helps all the young players."
Turning his attentions to Henry, Adebayor wants his strike partner to stay in North London.
"Of course I do (want Henry to stay), he is one of the best players in the world.
"He is an amazing player so I hope he will be at Emirates next season again."

Arsenal youngster Nicklas Bendtner has set his sights on a first-team place after signing a new five-year contract.
The 19-year-old Dane had a successful season on loan at Birmingham, helping them return to the Premiership.
He said: "It has always been my goal to get my breakthrough at Arsenal. There were no other clubs that were interesting for me.
"I know I have the right qualities, or will be able to develop them. I truly believe that I can break through."
He added: "I have had meetings with them where they have told me that I figure in their plans for the future.
"If that had not happened, neither they nor I would have signed the deal.
"The other strikers may have an advantage over me, but when I restart training and get some good matches under my belt, I am sure I will get my chance and take it."

Arsenal to make decision on Mexican wonderkid

Arsenal's Mexican wonderkid Carlos Vela faces an uncertain future at the Emirates.
Arsene Wenger will decide at the end of the Spanish season whether he will join Arsenal this summer.
The 18-year-old, who was signed for £2.5million in November 2005 but was not eligible to play in England due to work permit restrictions, is currently on loan at Spanish Second Division side Salamanca.
By next January, the teenager will have spent the two years in Spain necessary to qualify for an EU passport but Arsenal have successfully applied to the Home Office to bring forward Vela's arrival date.
Wenger must now decide whether Vela should spend another year on loan in Spain or move to Emirates permanently in July.
The indications are that the Arsenal manager wants the striker, who has scored eight goals in 26 games for Salamanca this season, to provide competition up front.
Wenger, who has been in Spain this week to speak to representatives of Julio Baptista, Jose Reyes, Cesc Fabregas and Arsenal youngster Fran Merida, has compared Vela to Mexican legend Hugo Sanchez.
"He's top class," said the Arsenal boss. "I like his intelligence and his pace. He scores goals but he can also create them.
"He's a special talent and I believe 100 per cent that he will make it at the highest level."
According to reports in Spain, Wenger has held talks with Atletico Madrid about off-loading Reyes.
Real are not interested in signing Reyes on a permanent deal and the forward's options are diminishing because his former club Seville have also said they are not interested in him.
Another Arsenal forward, Theo Walcott, has declared that he will be fully fit for the start of the new season following a successful shoulder operation.
"I will be fit as long as I have a good pre-season," said Walcott.

Arsenal are letting me go, insists Baptista
MADRID, May 24 (Reuters) - Arsenal are not going to take up the option to turn Julio Baptista's loan deal from Real Madrid into a permanent move, the Brazilian attacking midfielder has said.
'Arsenal have told me they are not able to buy me and so all I can do is return to Real Madrid,' Baptista told sports daily Marca on Thursday, in a telephone interview from New York.
The 25-year-old international moved to London last August in a one-year loan swap, with Arsenal's Jose Antonio Reyes moving in the opposite direction.
The deal included an option for the clubs to buy the respective players at the end of the season but neither man has consistently impressed during the loan period.
'I have enjoyed my season with Arsenal and in England. I adapted well. I didn't play much at first but finished much better. The first year is very difficult,' Baptista said.
'The English league is very strong and very competitive with great teams. Manchester United and Chelsea are very strong and it is difficult to compete against their great squads.'
In Baptista's absence, Real have come from behind to grab first place in the Primera Liga and with three games left are on course for their first major trophy in four seasons.
'I speak a lot with Robinho and Roberto Carlos and I have wished them all the best for the league. If I am honest I am a little jealous I can't be with them playing for the title,' he said.
'I am keen to know what happens in the last three games and hope they go on to win.'
Baptista joined Real from Sevilla two years ago in a deal worth $24.2 million but failed to make it into coach Fabio Capello's plans when he took over last July.

Tony Adams has revealed his dream of one day managing Arsenal.
The former Arsenal defender is currently an assistant manager at Portsmouth under Harry Redknapp and also has experience managing Wycombe Wanderers.
Adams admits that one day he would love to return and take charge of his old club sometime in the future.
Adams said: "Managing Arsenal is the ultimate aim. The club was a massive part of my life.
"Who would not jump at the chance to do that job?
"Everything is in place - the backroom staff, facilities, training ground and scouting network is phenomenal."
Adams has been at Fratton Park all season, grateful towards Harry Redknapp for the experience, but could not see himself staying at the club longer than a year.
Adams explained: "The agreement between myself and Harry was that I would stay at Portsmouth for a year.
"I have learned so much but assistant manager is the most frustrating job in football.
"I now miss having my head on the block."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has rejected reports suggesting he and Cesc Fabregas could be leaving the club.
Reports emanating from Spain have suggested Fabregas could move to Real Madrid this summer and that Wenger could also make the switch to El Santiago Bernabeu.
Wenger made a visit to Spain fuelling speculation that he was in the country to meet Madrid and discuss his own and Fabregas' future.
However, the Frenchman insists he was in Spain to meet with Atletico Madrid regarding Jose Antonio Reyes and that both himself and Fabregas will be staying at Emirates Stadium.
"I met with the directors of Atletico Madrid, nothing else," Wenger told Marca
"Cesc is going to spend the next year with Arsenal."
Wenger also moved to rubbish suggestions that he offered himself to Madrid following the recent departure of David Dein at Arsenal.
"I have not offered myself to Real Madrid. I am going to continue at Arsenal."

Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd has moved to offset the loss of Ben Foster by snapping up keeper Mart Poom from Arsenal.
Foster has given superb service to Watford over the last two years, but he will be at Old Trafford next term trying to dislodge Edwin van der Sar from the Manchester United first team.
As such, The Hornets were in need of a new number one and Boothroyd has been quick to end his search by signing Poom from Arsenal.
Poom has acted as cover for Arsene Wenger in North London, but he has now moved on at the age of 35 in a bid to secure regular playing time.
Jens Lehmann and Manuel Almunia have been vying for the number one jersey at Arsenal and the writing was on the wall for Poom when Wenger moved for Poland international Lukasz Fabianski.

亨利其實留隊都有好處 ge (雖然我個人唔鐘意佢 ... )，始終佢有 heart 同可以壓場。但講真點都要減少佢的上陣時間，等佢作為一個超強變數仲好 !!!
另外如果依家賣佢好似令到 arsenal = 永不留低忠臣等佢榮休咁 ... :(
